I'm just going to advise that you have story arcs all planned out along with your backstory. Otherwise, the RP could just end up going nowhere. I know from my experience with Fractured, which turned out to die a slow death. |

How about this?:
The current leader of the planet of Erebus, Matthua Colly, has commenced his assault on Poseidon, an oceanic world rich with fauna and flora. He seeks to use the resources of this world, including the very rare but powerful element known as Pleanyx, which exists only on Poseidon. The leaders of Poseidon do not want this to happen, thus creating a conflict.
Poseidon has gained a steampunk kind of technology on the two continents, while the underwater use a fusion of magic and science. There are several factions to choose from. |

In my experience, letting people choose their faction when there are two(or more) different, warring factions(thus making for possible PvP combat) will almost never turn out well. I can guarantee that without careful balancing, it will end up being the players on one faction versus the struggling GM on the other. It's a lot easier, a lot more simple, and a lot more conducive to a plot rather than a mess of player interaction or lack thereof to gather them all on one side, in one group with no NPCs even, and throw them into the battle so they can advance it, then let the story unfold around them rather than having to introduce elements out of the blue as the players fight NPCs, possibly with NPC allies of their own. |

So what your saying is that the best solution one side is playable while the other is NPCs only otherwise it just nose dives into flame war territory? |

Checking to see if anyone would still have interest in this. After some thought, it would be large scale battles between a human faction and an alien faction (how original, I know) but they're equally matched in terms of technology, even thought it's vastly different. |

Looks like I have competition in the Sci-Fi Massive Scale Wafare RP, huh? My next RP (already finished btw) deals with an alien force and human forces duking it out. We'll see how it goes, eh? |
