Well, from every time he's done something, it's been because the Supreme General, or the Generals as a whole, wanted him to do that, or set the policy in place to make sure that the actions he took were indeed taken.
Demoting me for "complaining", VACing' Polonium. It's all agreed upon as a collective.

It's not "being pushed around". They're setting a agenda, and he as well as all generals go along with it because they are convinced that's "progressive" for the clan.
In reality it's just an echo-chamber of the same ideas at the top, making the same mistakes over and over. What's worse is that no one can come in and break that because you basically need to be on friendly terms with all Generals for them to even want to hear from you, and EVEN THEN if you start "disrespecting them", you're done.
That's my take on the affairs at the time.

I think the reason why Generals have become to intolerant and so narcissistic is because of the huge amount of pressure degenerate C&Gers have piled onto them for them to rise to their unachieveable expectations.
Doesn't excuse their actions, but they're constantly trying to show that they are better than what C&G assumes they're like.
Which manifests itself in a blatant hatred of being called anything that isn't totally positive.
