Chevelle was one of those "other guys" during the early 2000's. You had bands like Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin release albums to massive attention...and then Chevelle releasing their albums in a corner where only few can see them. Chevelle has obviously impressed a lot of people with their recent album "The North Corridor". Not only did this album land them a tour with Slipknot, but "The North Corridor" has topped iTunes music charts for new music. Enough with all of the background information. Let's start nitpicking. In layman's terms, "The North Corridor" is a non-stop assault using nothing but bouncy riffs and heavy vocals to deliver an album that Chevelle hasn't fully ventured into. Sure, Chevelle has done heavy tracks before (i.e. "The Clincher"), but they have never ventured into a full fledged album. The album within itself really is not bad. This further advances a lot of bands efforts into bringing back a more nu-metal standpoint. Chevelle does a good job of using their original style, but adding a lot more distortion to their riffs. Some tracks like "Enemies" and "Young Wicked" feel a little forced, but others feel just right. My personal favorite song on the track is "Door to Door Cannibals". The song is a perfect choice to start off the album. "Door to Door Cannibals" sums up the entire feel for the album. Everything from the guitar riff to the vocals are everything this album will deliver. To grade this album, it deserves a solid B+. "The North Corridor feels like there is something missing that would give it an A, but the album certainly does deliver to those who were impressed by their previous album "La Gargola." Many can tell that the album was heavily influenced by the track "Take Out the Gunman", which has arguably become one of Chevelle's signature songs. All in all, give "The North Corridor" a listen and see you guys later.

"La Gargola" and "The North Corridor" are even in my book. They were both really good and delivered exceptionally. I really like Chevelle's new heavy style. Although Chevelle made post-grunge look good, I think it's time for them to take a break from that style for a bit.
