x and y are part of (x,y)
m represents by how much y increases each time x increases
and b
well b isn't part of the coordinates, but you add that to the mx |

do you read your math textbook then?
textbooks are pretty much infallible
it's such a basic thing stuff like that is explained at the beginning of each chapter
