I've been looking at some different ways to reduce lag at my places. These including removing all the tabs, comments, ect. to reduce the number of characters ect. Well. I remembered that the ROBLOX places are saved as XML and they have there code all pretty and tabbed into trees and branches -_-. Well, I went in and removed all the tabs and the file size was 1/5 less! Thats quite a lot seeing as how large the place was itself! Well, to test it further I opened it in Roblox Studio and then saved it again, sure enough... Roblox had put all of its stupid pretty tabs. It interpreted it fine without the tabs fine so could we PLEASE not have it put in the tabs into the XML. We can reduce the lag A TON in most of our places! Its an easy and good way to remove lag from out places! |

I've noticed some people are getting confused with what I said, thats my fault, I didn't say it very well =P
Basically when ROBLOX saves your game it stores it in a language called XML. (To see what this looks like, find a saved copy of your game on your computer, right click and click on "Open with notepad"). You will probably be surprised to here that every little letter, number, symbol, AND SPACES take up memory. Well, when ROBLOX saves its game it includes HUNDREDS, possibly THOUSANDS of characters (TABS) that aren't needed and that take up memory. The only reason they are there is to make it look "pretty" but why does it need to look good when nobody reads the XML of places that often? And even then, we don't care if it looks good. What I'm trying to say it, we don't need this extra stuff included so why does it save like this and make are places larger then it needs to be. My minigames were reduced to only 2/3'ds the size after I removed all tabs, quite an improvement.
TL;DR
ROBLOX is adding extra crap in your saved game files. I'm just suggesting that they don't have it all in there, it will make games be not as large. |

Maybe that opened drive space on the servers could help give us data storage
:D
I think this is a good idea... Maybe a setting in Roblox studio, auto tab? And when you publish it never autotabs.
Also default would be no autotab. |

Obviously if it will reduce lag, most everyone would want it... Especially if it does not hinder the game in anyway. Youd think they would figure that out already.... Then again do they really care? |

I see.....Optimizing means that the game automacticly selects the right options for your computer so it reduces as much lag as possible. Support. |

And XML is really one of the only ways the C++ can read your place... unless ROBLOX developed some language... which they WOULDN'T |
