How about 3 dots or something above the players head when they're typing so that others know that they are. I find it annoying wondering if the person I'm talking to is waiting for me to talk or if they're AFK or something.

not all games use bubble chat, and this would be similar to a form of it, and could ruins some games as such. as such, this would need somehow to work in the classic chat. but how? would it stay at the head of the chat, that could be distracting, or would it get caught in the flow and scroll up chat, that could be hard to see when someone is typing. elaborate, op.

Perhaps a toggle feature in the configuration when setting chat to bubble.

yes of course you toggle it same as bubble or classic or both chat but for this to work it needs an alternative to the bubbles that would work for classic, and then those would be combined for having both. you only say toggle and configure it, but what are you toggling to or configuring, needs more detail.
