So, I've been wanting to talk about this for a while now.
The white list does kind of seem like a good idea on paper, something that could prevent the little children from saying bad words or abbreviations of bad words, even any spelling of them!
But, that idea doesn't really work...
In play it's become rather problematic, if you don't notice a mistake when you're posting or chatting on a game, it will be censored, meaning that unless there were a a lot of context clues in the post/chat, it would make it hard to figure out what the person's saying.
This could also be a problem when someone's trying to send a developer a message about a bug in their game, sometimes, it gets censored, leaving the developer confused about the bug.
Last, it does tend to be a little buggy, sometimes censoring words on the white list, giving people a hard time.
The white list causes more problems than the problem it's trying to fix, from censoring typos, to even censoring words in the white list, Roblox would be better off just adding more words to the black list than using a white list.

if you have no idea what the white list is
it's a list for people who's accounts say they're younger than 13, full of the only words they can say
anything not on the list will be censored
and words not on the list said by people without the white list will also be censored for people who have the white list

The Whitelist isn't the only problem here, i actually make sure that i write with proper grammar when having a conversation with another ROBLOXian on ROBLOX and often enough, my words get censored for some absurd reason, no insults, no "Adult" jokes, nothing of that sort..
They plain out censor some of my words randomly (especially when i am messaging someone, making it hard for him to figure out what in the world i am typing)
So my suggestion is, to heck with the whitelist & censorship!
They should just make under 13 people unable to see or talk in the chat, simple problem, simple solution. |
