For the past 4 years, I've seen this kind of post monthly on C&G. Hell, I'll go as far to say that it's been posted bi-weekly with the intention of stirring the pot. For the final time (from me at least), the clan world is not dying.
The doomsayers will continue pretending they're the true harbingers of the end of clans.
There will never be a death of the clan community unless this website shuts it down. We're here to stay.

agreed. it is a little less inactive though, but there are several reasons for that. just wish the mods would include more updates focused on the clan communities to mix things up and revitalize things.

there's no doubt that nostalgia is a big factor in this, even during what is considered the golden age we had people like colourtheory complaining about what they saw as a deteriorating clan world
however i would argue that the general quality and accessibility of the clan environment has waned since late 2013 or so, in my opinion partly because of increased competitiveness which kind of goes against the whole spirit of this being a casual game. |

clans have been unsteady since their inception. if we weren't kids, we'd've noticed it when it was happening. who thought it'd be a good idea to create an insta-kill rapid fire weapon that anyone can have? everyone is nostalgic for the old days because you had bigger personalities who managed the polarize the community and attract more people. yet, clans like RAT are running flawlessly and more efficiently now than they were then.
it's impressive to see people claiming the majority of superclans are dead when the biggest player is alive and well.
however, small clans and startups have become harder to manage and birth solely because of the environment - the improving superclans are once again usurping all talent to their ranks.
i'll agree wholeheartedly though that c&g's overall quality has rapidly decreased since 2012.

The thing with this clan world now, is that everything has to be fair, so it doesn't influence people to get better, have better tactics or anything.
I miss the days where a "fair" base wasn't a thing, you stacked while being spawnkilled by a carbine and hoped you could serpentine to avoid it.

the problem with the community's deterioration means that new people are less likely to engage in clans, especially because now you have to put in a hell of a lot more practice to be considered good than a few years back
something which seems to go unnoticed is the shift in who exactly commands attention in clans now - in 2011 popularity was usually centred around charisma and how much of a drama queen you were (whether that's good or not you be the judge), but since the mass marketing of competitive arts like RCL popularity is more biased towards pure skill |
