First of all, people are beginning to blame it all on every white person. This is insanely annoying because the officer who shot keith, was black. Next, I completely disagree with the people who are saying the cops have done nothing. That is completely false and bull**** and we all know it. But to destroy your own city and do idiotic things like looking the NASCAR hall of fame is insane. WaxicusNewtonus

i don't like how people are turning this into a racial issue when if anything the amount of white and black people shot by police are basically similar although i do agree there's a racial bias to be more "scared" of a black person if you come up to him rather than a white person for police the police are human and they makes mistakes, some are huge mistakes, but they're just as scared as the people that are pulled over, so a natural response is to get trigger happy. with that said, i just wish so many people didn't attack the police the way they are. all police aren't bad and at the end of the day most of them just want to keep the public safe.

The police are human and make mistakes but when American police continuously make the mistake of firing fatal gunshots it's a problem. No other sane country does this. This isn't about race, it's about the police being poorly trained to use a deadly weapon.

Remember 93% of Black homicides are due to black on black violence But yeah police brutality is the problem.

well it doesn't help that America has the 3rd largest police force in the world and the 2 countries above (India and China) have heavier regulations of gun laws, so, especially in China, police don't have to think about using deadly force is much since they probably won't encounter someone with a gun.

If the police encountered anyone with a gun in China they'd interrogate and torture everyone they've ever been associated with.

>i don't like how people are turning this into a racial issue when if anything the amount of white and black people shot by police are basically similar ......no, no it's not even close from a snopes article: "According to Fatal Encounters, the database created by former Reno News & Review editor and journalism instructor Burghart (which tracks all deaths resulting from interactions with police), a total of 1,388 people were killed by police in 2015, 318 (23%) of them black, and 560 (40%) of them white. So roughly 23 percent of those killed by any police interaction in 2015 were black and just over 40 percent were white. According to those statistics (adjusted for racial demographics), blacks had a 2.7 higher likelihood of being killed by police than whites. The grim trend has carried over into 2016. Of the 1,034 people killed and tracked by Burghart's Fatal Encounters database so far this year, 215 were black while 338 were white, so thus far in 2016 black Americans have been three times more likely than whites to die in interactions with police." >This isn't about race, it's about the police being poorly trained to use a deadly weapon. nope, it's 100% about race Iᴛ ᴀɪɴᴛ ᴇᴀsʏ, ʙᴇɪɴɢ Cʜᴇᴇsᴇʏ.

"Remember 93% of Black homicides are due to black on black violence" Well, you're looking at the facts, which is good. The problem is that you're not analyzing them properly. First off, most black people are in a significantly worse off position financially due to the extreme amounts of racism and discrimination they had to face in the past. People who are from families that are better off are much more able to get a better education, and thus are able to get paid more, and thus are much less likely to commit a crime. The vast majority of crime, especially violent crimes, is done by poor people. Why? Because poor people are desperate and uneducated, and grow up around other desperate and uneducated people. These people are violent, and thus the poor people grow up in violence and have to learn how to defend themselves. They can't afford to get an education, and the vicious cycle continues. The average white person is significantly better off, simply because white people have never faced the level of discrimination that any other races have ever faced. But guess what? Poor white people are just as likely to commit a violent crime as a poor black person. RIP Koolboy123, Oct. 1, 1992-Apr. 27, 2016 ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ

but more white people still got shot (and killed) black people were "however percent more likely" to get shot, but white people still got shot more with that logic, the police shootings shouldn't even include racial issues, because that just means white officers are "whatever percent" more likely to be the people shooting because there's more white officers :/

"The vast majority of crime, especially violent crimes, is done by poor people. Why? Because poor people are desperate and uneducated, and grow up around other desperate and uneducated people. These people are violent, and thus the poor people grow up in violence and have to learn how to defend themselves. They can't afford to get an education, and the vicious cycle continues." great point and to add on, two quotes from a Jackson Free Press article: "• Low-income and African American communities have a higher percentage of adult males behind bars (and many for druq or lesser crimes than whites). That means fewer fathers, grandfathers and mentors for young men to look up to. Without a stable father figure, young men are more likely to follow the paths of their father. #• The "war on druqs" has traditionally targeted low-income, minority communities where many street dealers live instead of the often white and well-to-do suppliers. #• A criminal record reduces one's opportunities for employment; thus, they are more likely to turn to crime again. #• A neighborhood's goals and values are reflected in the amount of crime that occurs. "Neighborhoods and Violent Crime: A Multilevel Study of Collective Efficacy" by Robert J. Sampson, Stephen W. Raudenbush and Felton Earls, published in Science magazine in 1997, found that the ability of communities to obtain resources and public services correlates with the signs of disorder. For example, the fewer resources a community has to invest into their homes, the more likely it is to find vacant houses, vandalism and burned-out buildings—conditions that breed crime" and also: "High Crime Rates Among Poor: Why It is a fact that neighborhoods where the poor are concentrated are more prone to high crime rates, and poor residents are the most common victims of crimes. Beyond a simplistic answer of "poor people want/need more stuff so they have to take it," what are other, more researched answers? Oscar Newman offered several in "Creating Defensible Space" (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, 1996, $15): #• A one-parent household headed by a female is more vulnerable to criminal attack. • Families with only one adult present are less able to control their teenage children. • Young teenage mothers are often victimized by their boyf****ds • The criminal activity by the poor is tolerated, if not condoned, among the poor. • The poor, and particularly the poor members of racial minorities, are unable to demand as much police protection. • Committing crimes against residents in rundown and "ghetto" areas requires minimal skill and risk." >black people were "however percent more likely" to get shot, but white people still got shot more it doesn't matter, if race wasn't a factor then the race demographics of those murdered by cops would represent the national race demographics the fact that nearly 1/4 of the killings are black people over-represents the 12% black population of the US Iᴛ ᴀɪɴᴛ ᴇᴀsʏ, ʙᴇɪɴɢ Cʜᴇᴇsᴇʏ.

What Bung said is sort of related (since black people committing more crime IS statistically proven, and is related to why police officers seem to shoot black people who didn't do anything wrong), but he's cherry-picking facts and not looking deeper into them to try and find the true source of the problem, which is very complex, and in large part due to them growing up in poor neighbourhoods. Just like what mass media outlets do. RIP Koolboy123, Oct. 1, 1992-Apr. 27, 2016 ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ

my theory is that black people had a 2.7x higher likelyhood because more police patrol low income neighborhoods which has a higher rate of black families (obviously the low income neighborhoods have more crime it's a proven fact which is why cops patrol this area) thus more black people are stopped for suspicious activities leading to these accidents. i have 100% confidence that the majority of these cops did not shoot a person because of their skin color the media just plays it that way to get more attention and money. it's literally just the fact that cops are poorly trained.
