Hello and Welcome to the BrickBronze Help & Advisory Pvp Beginner Guide.
This Guide will show you a small example on how to build a PvP Team and how it should look like.
This was created by mewtwo338
■▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬■
Sample Brickbronze Team
What's going on everybody! It's mewtwo338 (some know me as Hobi) and I'm here with a sample of a PvP team. The team type I will be building will be a Hyper Offensive Team, so without further ado, let's get to it!
So for this Hyper-Offense team I will want various roles covered and they are as follows: a Lead, 2 Wallbreakers, a Sweeper, Revenge killer, Utility.
Let's start with the Lead, this will be the Pokemon that you will usually first send out in any battle. It's main job is set up hazards, set up screens, and/or to taunt opposing entry hazards.
■▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬■
One Pokemon I love to use as a Lead is Tyranitar, it has great bulk, great offensive pressure, and a great variety of a moves.
Since I will be using T-tar as a lead, I will run this set:
Tyranitar @ Chople Berry (when it's out, leftovers could work for now)
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 80 Def / 180 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Ice Beam
This set allows me to take a hit or two from the opposing lead, set up stealth rocks, and deal decent damage to the opponent if I need to.
Stealth Rock is there chip my opponent's HP, Stone Edge and Pursuit are for STAB, and Ice Beam is there to destroy Gliscor. Alternatively either Pursuit or Ice Beam can be replaced with Fire Blast or Crunch if you'd like other coverage or more Dark type damage.
■▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬■
Next I will pick my Sweeper, the Pokemon I want to do most of the knocking out.
T-tar is known for bringing up the sand, so I would want something that can work in it, so I'm going to choose Excadrill for this slot.
Excadrill @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance
Sand Rush will double Excadrill's speed in sand, this lets it outspeed many thing in the sand. Max attack and speed to maximize its damage output. Earthquake, Iron Head, and Rock Slide are all for damage output. Swords Dance is to increase Excadrill's sweeping potential.
At this point, I like to look for weaknesses in this core and I see a major one. Azumarill. Azumarill can just outright destroy both these with a powered up Aqua Jet or Play Rough.
■▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬■
I'd also like another offensive Pokemon that can also use the sand, so I'm picking Scizor.
Scizor @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Bug Bite
Scizor already has nice bulk and offenses, so I'd like to max out its damage output hence all the investment in attack and speed. Swords Dance is there to make Scizor a powerful sweeper, letting Bullet Punch KO lots of things.
Superpower is there to counter opposing steel types and Bug Bite is there to counter Grass and Psychic types like Slowbro. Technician is used as the ability in order to increase the power of Bug Bite and Bullet Punch by 1.5.
■▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬■
From this point on (once you have a trio or duo with great synergy) you'll want to focus on patching up holes and problems.
The problem I see with this trio is that opposing ground types and Excadrill can use this sand to their advantage and wipe my team out.
Hence, I am going to use what gave my duo problems, Azumarill.
Azumarill @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Superpower
This EV spread lets Azumarill have max damage output, some bulk, and outspeed vital threats all at the same time. Huge Power is used to double its Attack stat. Choice Band is used to further this attacking power.
Play Rough and Waterfall are for STAB, Aqua Jet for priortity, and Superpower to counter Steel types.
■▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬■
At this point, you may notice the team is all physical attackers, meaning that a physical wall can stop me completely. You may also notice that half of it is weak to ground, fighting, and water.
Altaria is here to save the day, with its resistances and special attacks!
Altaria @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Dragon Pulse (Draco Meteor in the future)
- Fire Blast / Flamethrower
- Roost
- Toxic
This set maximizes special attack power. Natural Cure is used to recover from any status conditions. Dragon Pulse is STAB. A fire move is used to counter steel types. Roost and Toxic are for healing and damage overtime (stalling).
■▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬■
This last slot is what I like to call "filler" or a Pokemon you feel like using.
I'm going to use Manetric to hard counter Water more and to have another special attacker.
Manectric @ Air Balloon
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Thunder Wave
EV spread allows for max damage. Air Balloon is used to not make half my team out right weak to Ground. Volt Switch is used to get Manectric out of a bad situation. Thunderbolt is for STAB. Flamethrower for coverage. Thunder Wave for a form of speed control.
Lightning Rod is used to help cover Azumarill and Altaria.
And that's my Hyper Offensive team (though it turned to be revolved around sand in the end, heh) if you'd like me to build other examples of teams just let me know through a message or another form of contacting me!
