Gonna attempt to get to rising star in rocket league 1v1's here and document my progress
I'm literally nowhere NEAR rising star in terms of rank or skill, but I'm gonna try (inspired by Woofless and Jon Sandman on youtube)
Tier: Pro
Rank: Prospect II Division III

Disappointing result. Outshot him 7-5 and it was a close one but he was very conservative and beat me when it counted. I'll take this as a learning experience to play a bit more conservative. I was getting all kinds of good shots on him in the air but most were straight at him and he beat me on the counter. |

Yo, I don't deserve this rank up at all LMAO. I was losing 3-0 to him when he went AFK and then left the game. This is another learning experience, I went for way too many balls that I shouldn't have. |

Felt bad for this guy. He was clearly outmatched and isn't anywhere close to the prospect II players. He's a prospect I division III player at best. |

@BML
The things I need to work on are:
-turning with power slide quickly to face the ball
-hitting aerials with power (just started training that recently)
-knowing WHEN to go for a ball
-what to do when the ball sails over my head |

Strengths I'd have to say are counterattacks, clearing the ball, aerials with accuracy, and shooting |

You serious? A rank down for this? Ah well. Very hard fought game, I need to get better at knowing when to go for balls though. Also I missed an opportunity from an angle that I usually put away with 16 seconds left, but simply could not convert. He had me running in circles at the end and eventually scored the OT winner. |

Ugh, this match was disgusting. Much closer than the scoreline indicates. I had a chance at the end to make it 5-5 but I absolutely muffed it. Had it at my own end with 20 seconds left, he was sitting back in his own net, and I went for a freaking power shot (that I completely botched anyway). Misassessed his movement and assumed he was charging after the ball since I was taking so much time back there. |

1. Don't powerslide if the ball is really close to you. Just try to block the ball from being hit by the opponents or back up to your goal and wait for your opponent's move.
If you're fairly far away from the ball and you want to powerslide, just don't hold down the powerslide button for very long. You should only be holding it for one second max.
2. I'm inconsistent with this so I can't really help you that much. It all just comes down to timing and you should practice this in the practice mode.
3. This also comes down to timing. Your game should be a mix of aggressive and conservative play, but knowing when to go for the ball comes down to experience and trust in your ability to hit the ball.
4. Get the #### back. |

This actually is going to help a lot. I've been holding down on the powerslide button for too long apparently. As for hitting aerials with power I'm quickly picking it up, that's how I'm going to end up beating a lot of noobs in the early stages but I'm probably gonna suffer when I actually face someone who knows how to aerial.
"4. Get the #### back."
What about this scenario:
I'm in my own net, just barely poking out
Ball is coming down right in front of the net (straight down off the back wall)
opponent is charging in
Do I try and aerial it, jump straight up and hope for the best, or something else? |

Well two things:
1. You're in prospect two. The chances of your opponent being able to hit a ball in the air is practically zero.
2. In that case, I'd either try to position myself for a save from a shot or I'd back up a bit to give me enough space to clear the ball with power. |

Sickening loss. Went down 2-0 early on two huge mistakes by me leading to empty nets, dominate him for the rest of the game only to come within one and have him score with 24 seconds left. That pretty much destroyed my confidence, losing a game I should've won AND deranking. Time to rebound |

Feels a bit dirty getting this win and ranking up. Went down 1-0 with only 3 seconds gone thanks to a lucky bounce on the faceoff he got. Who knows what the result would've been? |

I was all over this guy from the start. 2-0 up after 30 seconds and you could tell he wasn't coming back. He decided to move on and face someone easier. |

Boy, you talk about heartbreak city. I break out all the skills: Aerial goals, impossible angle goals, bump-n-run, yet he still pulls it out. At one point in the match he went up 3-1 thanks to two very unlucky faceoff bounces for me. I might have to practice my faceoffs in order to win more matches, they have been killing me lately. |

Jesus christ, I'm tired of losing on faceoffs
I'm also tired of them getting a 2-goal lead in the dying seconds, makes the game look less competitive than it was
Anyway, this match was a confidence breaker |
