i take off in my cessna 182 and wait until the danger has passed or fly to an airport that is further from the coast

The tallest tsunami was barely over .5 kilometers in height. It's not necessarily impossible for a 1000 kilometer-high tsunami to be generated, but that would be one massive wave. A 1000 kilometer wave would not cover the entire United States. A majority of a coastline state, sure, but not the whole country. I'd personally be dead, but anyone that is any further inland than Idaho (relative to the West coast) should be safe. Tsunamis also lose energy pretty quickly, so that's another factor. If it WERE to happen, I would probably just accept my fate. There isn't a lot I could do.
