Any good modern jazz?

I would like to get more into Jazz. I have heard some, and liked the sounds, but I have yet to really get into it. Suggestions? The last man on earth sat alone in a room... There was a knock at the door...

Most of em are bar bands or play at street fairs and such. Were I live, every summer theres like 2 free Jazz shows in august, AND DAMN can those guys play.
