Hey guys,
I'm late again so sorry about that. Hopefully I can actually get these out on time nest time. The Rankings Committee met on Monday and these have been the rankings all week so sorry about them coming out now. Anyway here they are.
-{The Top Two}-
#1 Alabama (7-0)
If you expected it to be anyone else at #1, I'd be surprised. Alabama took care of business over the #2 team LSU. Alabama is basically locked in at the #1 spot for the playoffs, and will probably advance to the Sugar Bowl. Watch out for them in the playoffs, as they don't look to be slowing down any time soon.
#2 LSU (4-3)
Even though LSU lost to #1 Alabama last week, they don't fall in the rankings at all. This is mainly due to the performance of some of the other teams last week, but we will get into that later. LSU took a hard loss to Alabama last week, however it was somewhat expected as LSU did not have a QB, and were already the under dogs. LSU got lucky that no one below them did enough to take the #2 spot, so they will stay there this week.
-{On the Edge}-
#3 KSU (4-3)
KSU put up a huge win over #4 Clemson last week defeating the Tigers 60-24. Despite this impressive win, their head coach decided it would be a great idea to quit right after the game, now putting the KSU Wildcats in a grey area. No one really knows how their new head coach will, and they could very well fall out of the rankings after this week, as they play the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide. All eyes are on ThomasWellington, the new head coach this week, to see how his team will play against Alabama.
#4 Miami (3-4)
Probably the biggest surprise in this week's rankings are the Miami Hurricanes. They are coming off a defensive battle that went into double over time with ASU. Although they are not the best team in the league, they were able to capitalize on the failures of some other teams last week to push themselves into the playoff picture. The Miami Hurricanes either need to win against #2 LSU this week, or get some help from other teams to remain in the playoff picture. This is the team to watch, as they just might get themselves into a playoff birth.
-{At the Threshold}-
#5 UCLA (4-3)
"How do the 4-3 Bruins get a spot below the 3-4 Hurricanes?", you might ask. Well heres the reason. In the last three games UCLA played they are 1-2, barley escaping Miami in their only win. They lost to ### who has proven to be a flop team, almost lost to Miami after putting up a 22-0 lead in the first quarter, and lost to the winless Ohio State Buckeyes, by deciding to run up the score on them. They ended up throwing an interception to the Buckeyes, and the Buckeyes capitalized on a hail mary play and won the game. This is simply unacceptable for a team to remain in the playoffs. UCLA will need an impressive win against ASU to get back in this, but if ASU wins, it's all over for UCLA this season.
Clemson (3-4)
Clemson took a huge blowout loss to KSU last week 60-24 when KSU had a brand new head coach. Clemson now got a new Head Coach in Mar_Green, who looks to bring Clemson to a Triumph Bowl next season. Although he has his eyes on the prize for next season, it is still at least somewhat possible for Clemson to get into the playoffs. Clemson plays Ohio State this week, who are coming off a win against UCLA last week. If Clemson can beat the Buckeyes, they might have a shot at the playoffs.
-{The Longshots}-
ASU (2-5)
ASU had some hype a few weeks ago after beating UCLA, but honestly the hyped died down pretty quickly as it became clear this team wasn't good enough to get to the playoffs. The best thing ASU can do is to beat #5 UCLA again this week, but it's going to be an uphill battle. ASU should focus on next season to get back into the groove and potentially make the playoffs next season.
Ohio State (1-6)
Congratulations Ohio State, you won a game! I find it impressive that they were actually able to win something, especially getting it with their new Head Coach. Hopefully Ohio State can turn it around next season, I have a lot of confidence in Wedlerbilz.
-{Conclusion}-
These are the official rankings going into Week 9. Let me know what you think of the rankings. Who is too high? Who got snubbed? Make sure to leave your thoughts down below. It is the last regular season week of the season, and playoff spots are on the line. This is the team's last chance to get in, lets see who fails, and who prevails.
