REVISED TRAIN DRIVER PROTOCOLS
This guide contains all the needed information for a (future) NS Train Driver.
Please note that some given information might be outdated at the time of reading because of updates.
SPAWNING A TRAIN:
To spawn yourself a train, you click at the 'Staff Menu' button in the MenuGUI and then click the “Trains Menu” button. A GUI will show up in which then you can choose your company, train and yard, when you’re finished all you have to do is clicking “Spawn Train”!
AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR SERVICE:
At the beginning of your service, you have turn your lights on, turn brake off, set your destination and then drive out of the yard. On approach of a big station (terminus) with several tracks, a Platform GUI will appear; choose the platform you want to approach on but please keep in mind that some tracks might be bound to IC or SP services only. When you have arrived at a terminus which is the end of your service you have to change your service to a new one.
Departure Station is the station you start your service on, Arrival Station is your last stop and service is your train's service. IC services only stop at the major stations, SP stops at all stations.
If the station you approached on is the end of the line, you need to change cabs and change direction.
DRIVERGUI:
The DriverGUI is the GUI you use to drive your train. Some trains’ GUIs might have more buttons than others.
All buttons explained:
- Traction Lever: Makes your train move if both your direction and brake lever are in the right state.
- Direction Lever: Changes the direction for your train to move in, also changes lights if they are on.
- Brake Lever: Makes your train slow down if brakes are higher than traction.
- Speed Limiter: Changes the train’s speed limit, if it’s on X and your traction is on your train won’t drive faster than X.
- Doors Buttons: Locks/Unlocks your train’s doors; left or right.
- Delete: Toggles a small message to delete your train..
- Horn: Honks your train's horn.
- Stop Driving: Removes your DriverGUI and lets other people be able to drive your train. If you reset or leave the game while no one else has taken your train yet, the train will be automatically despawned.
- Lights: Toggles your train's lights if direction isn’t 0.
- Set Route: Toggles the service frame; choose your start station, arrival station and the service you want to do to set your train’s destination.
NOTE: Keybinds can be found in the Forums!
SIGNS:
Speed Signs:
We have some speed limits at our lines indicated by speed signs:
- Green triangle pointing up: speed up to the displayed speed.
- White square: you should now drive the displayed speed (or slower of course).
- Yellow triangle pointing down: speed down to the displayed speed before the next white squared sign with the speed indicated on it.
Every sign shows a number: number*10 is the relevant speed.
NOTE: Always drive 40 on sharp track switches and also slow down in sharp bends.
Bakborden (in future):
There also are rotated blue squares with numbers displayed on them, placed next to tracks; stop at the sign which displays the same amount as the amount of carriages your train has.
Stop Signal (in future):
A white sign with a black “S” on it: this sign tells you that you soon will be approaching a station.
If this station is a station on your service, it’s smart to start braking.
LIGHT SIGNALS:
- Green: Continue at the allowed section speed.
- Yellow: Continue driving 40 and be warned that the next signal might possibly be red.
- Red: Stop your train and wait for the signal to turn yellow or green.
NOTE: Our light signals might not be that reliable.
SERVICE INFORMATION
ICs stop at the major stations (indicated in the MapGUI and in your DriverGUI), SPs stop at all stations. When stopped at a station you have to progress your service (might get automated in a future update) by clicking the small arrow in the DriverGUI and unlock your doors.
The waiting time at IC stations is longer than the waiting time at SP stations, please stick to this!
If there are several trains at the same station, please communicate with the other drivers who’s departing first.
CONDUCTOR:
When someone’s conducting your train please stick to this:
- Unlock the doors at all your service’s stations, but don't lock them, your conductor will do this for you.
Additional Information:
- Whenever your conductors whistles it means that you’re ABOUT to depart.
If you don’t have a conductor on your train, you must lock and unlock doors yourself.
DERAILMENTS
- If your train has derailed, please delete the train and contact our Rail Management team if they’re online. Tell your passengers to reset (or let them wait for another train as long as they don’t walk on the tracks) as they can’t walk to stations because they will be respawned by the Anti-Trackwalk system.
- If someone derailed you at purpose, please fill in the Conflict Report Form (can be found in our Forums) and send it to one of our High Ranks.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- DriverGUI keybinds can be found in our Forums!
- If you need to go AFK or have to leave, please tell your passengers and stop at the next station then let somebody take your train over by clicking "Stop Driving" or delete your train.
- As a Train Driver you MUST listen to our High Ranks (Managers+).
- Passengers are only allowed to ride our trains with possession of a ticket, if they don't have a ticket please report it in-game. This information is especially relevant for conductors
- For all conflicts affecting you please fill in our Conflict Report Form (can be found in our Forums) and send it to a HR (Managers+).
- If you need to delete a train but you can't, please contact a HR and let them delete it for you.
Good luck!
