Classes at AG are easy to understand, most of the time teachers will post on the group shout. They will post the time, who will be teaching it, and the date (unless they postpone it or do a lightning class).
Now you're probably wondering what a lightning class is. A lightning class is when the teachers don't have an exact date for their class so they do it that day. Usually they will post in the morning about the class and the class would be later that day.
If they postpone a class, it is most likely because they realized they were not available at that time or there is a meeting. Also, usually they will post on the group shout so you know. If they do forget to group shout that they postponed it, when you join the game and the teacher is not on, that means they most likely postponed it.
Private classes are a little bit different. If you have a solo you might want to perform or you just want to practice with a teacher, you will have to manually make the schedule yourself. There is a private session area at the gym. You need to direct message the teacher you would like to perform in front of or practice with. In the message you should tell the teacher what the private class is for, the time you want it to be (the date as well), and make sure they are available. You are not always guaranteed to be able to practice or perform with a teacher.
