I have tried many things to stop this but I have came to a conclusion that ROBLOX is causing a virus on my computer that when im in a game my computer freezes up and shuts down. I would like help solving the problem to this dilemma. I am not quitting ROBLOX because of this issue but I just want to know the answer to help this stop.

ROBLOX is not a hacking device. Proof? Few others are complaining about similar issues. Its something else you downloaded. Try using an antivirus (NOT an online one, buy one at an electonics store or off of Amazon) to clear out your computer. If it's not that, then the virus has won, or your computer has an error someplace. Best of hopes, btw. Im sorry if I'm kind of cold...

Do you have an antivirus called "Internet Antivirus Pro"? It's malware that pretends to be an antivirus. I had it, and it does the EXACT same thing!

Ok first.A virus from this shut down my laptop.Permanentaly. Ok now here comes how the virus happens. When you download ROBLOX when it says if you want to download it it also means to authorize all files to be open so ROBLOX can download it. While the cache is open hackers can get into your computer and find personal info and important things. They can also plant a virus into your PC. You probably got a virus :P

The blue screen of death doesnt come up. Im probably thinking that it is only a virus problem. The only reason I thought it was roblox is because my computer would only shut down when a roblox place was opened. Anything else opened would not make it shut down. Thanks for the help!

By an chance does it say "Display Driver stopped Working"? That happened to me. BUT I FIXED IT. Go On Control panel. Go On System. Go On System Again... Go On Device Manager. Go On display drivers. Double click this, and click on your Display Driver. If you have more than one, check which one/s are broken. Uninstall them all. Check for updates on Windows Update. Install the updates. When it has restarted and done everything (Max 2hrs, maybe more) ROBLOX should work again if this was your problem. Beware, this is a Windows Vista computer. Yours may have different settings, but it is unlikely. Older computers are less likely to have Windows Update. I am sorry to say I don't know where to get a reliable version of this, unless it came with your computer.

I think ROBLOX may be a too big program for your computer. How old is your computer. You may need to get a new one if yours is too old.

ROBLOX doesn't cause ANY viruses. ~If I didn't crush the hopes and dreams of hundreds of oblivious, ignorant fools, who would?~

Its probaly your Graphics card. Your Computer can't handle the graphics of Roblox, so it has to shut down and reboot so it doesn't burn out its currents graphics card.

ROBLOX won't cause a virus. Get Avast! Antivirus and make it scan your hard-drive.

*Cough* Nice job bumping a topic that's two weeks old. And if the 'starter' of this topic still looks here. How exactly does it 'crash' your computer?

Can I have all of your specifications please? And the graphics card info (with drivers)? I smell leaking memory...

#20767424Tuesday, February 09, 2010 11:26 AM GMT

Leaking memory doesn't do such things. It either: Makes the system 'very' unstable. (Processes crashing randomly because they used the 'corrupt' memory.) Just BSoDs you randomly. (A secure test for 'bad memory' would be compressing/decompressing files. If it keeps failing at a static percentage of the progress (37%) then it might a lack of memory. But if it fails randomly (12%, 71%, 33%, 40% .. Etc.) then it's a sign of bad memory.)

Blockerz, incorrect. Bad memory leaks can cause such things as BSoD, and bd crashes. Also, overheating might result in your computer turning off without warning.

I've had the experience of having "bad memory leaks" ..

"I have tried many things to stop this but I have came to a conclusion that ROBLOX is causing a virus on my computer that when im in a game my computer freezes up and shuts down. I would like help solving the problem to this dilemma. I am not quitting ROBLOX because of this issue but I just want to know the answer to help this stop." Despite the lag, Roblox is legitimate. Simple, they don't have viruses and trojans in the programming. What may be happening is that your computer is too old to handle Roblox. If you can save up some money for another, one that can handle Roblox. You can probably solve your problem by updating your graphics card as well. However, viruses from other sources can damage files such as Roblox, and some programs require special Windows 32 files and .dll, so if you need antivirus, here's what I recommend. Get these in order, to protect yourself from masquerading antiviruses. Remember, I will post a URL to each that has been tested. Copy and paste each url using Ctrl-C, then Ctrl-V. Mozilla Firefox (gets a while to get used to, but it's fast & great, can get add-ons) http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/upgrade.html Web of Trust (WOT) (uses feedback from users to judge a websites legitimacy in trust, consumer satisfaction, child safety, etc. 99.99% correct)https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3456 Avast! Antivirus! (A free and good antivirus. You don't need to buy everything else, the free version is enough. It requires you to register after a month, but it's still free. After the first year is up, simply register again for free.) http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download Spybot: Search and Destroy (A very good anti-spyware device that will catch adware and spyware which Avast! doesn't, if that ever happens. It will also catch a lot of viruses and trojans. WATCH OUT ESPECIALLY HERE FOR MASQUERADING ANTIVIRUSES WHICH CLAIM TO BE THE REAL ONE. ONLY DOWNLOAD FROM): http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html

If you are protected well by antivirus already, there is no need to download any of this, but only if you want to and your parents allow you. Some other antiviruses conflict with each other and will require an uninstall. It may be that your computer is too old to run Roblox, that is all.
