Can someone experienced teach me how to write RPs?

All the good RPs are 100s of pages in, so I have nothing to do on this forum, and when I try to write a good story I can't think of ways to give characters a goal to move the plot forward. Anyone mind helping me out?

I would say to begin with a basic plot. What do you want your RP to be? Open world, or a linear plot? Then begin to flesh that story out with a background. Creating a comprehensive lore to your RP helps give you more tools to work with in the RP. Instead of limiting your RP to, say, one type of rifle, add in multiple types of rifles with different strengths and weaknesses. This gives your RPers more options in terms of creativity.

Also, don't think that this RPF community can't handle more mature RPs. As long as it's not like, super weird, we can take more developed stories and what not.
