Gustavvsson is the best backup goaltender in the league.

"Gustavvsson is the best backup goaltender in the league." *Matt Murray if u can call him a backup if not, Andrei Vasilevskiy "your and your're actually pretty much means the same thing. and your is a real word." -Crasymanjr03 | This is my siggy. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

You've clearly never heard of Antti Raanta or Marek Mazanec

Antti Raanta is good but you cannot consider him THE best backup goaltender. Could be one of the best, but I don't really know. All depends if you can still consider Matthew Murray a "backup" to Marc-Andre Fleury. I should be agreeing with Totally tho considering I'm a Ranger fan.

I consider Murray and Fleury as split #1's so neither of them really qualifies as a backup to me. The best goalie who's current role has very clearly been set to being a backup (not a third-stringer, a backup.) is most likely Antti Raanta. If not him, then it's Marek Mazanec or Andrei Vasilevski.

The same thing applies with Vasilevskiy TBH.

"Gustavsson is better than Raanta though." In what universe? Absolutely not in this one. Not saying that Gustavsson is a bad backup goalie though. He clearly isn't.

Let's say if Raanta and Gustavsson were both of the backup goaltenders on the Bruins. If Rask gets a season ending injury right before the playoffs, who would you trust to win you the cup? Raanta or Gustavsson? IMO, Gustavsson would be the better pick. Raanta may be superior in terms of raw talent but Gustavsson would be better carrying a massive work load with his large amounts of experience, leadership, dedication, and much more.
