You will choose which agency you want to enroll into on the application, C.R.T or F.P.S. (see section duties). S.S. is a division for experienced FPS wanting to move into government official protection, however rarely FPS applicants may be moved into SS if necessary. If you pass the application stage, you will then have to attend the academy sessions. More information below. (see section training & sessions) ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 【IMPORTANT VOCABULARY】 Lockdown - An emergency protocol to prevent people or information from escaping, which usually can only be ordered by someone in command. Lockdowns are also used to protect people inside a facility, for example, a government official, from a dangerous external event. State of Emergency - Issued by the Governor in times of emergency, the State of Emergency puts all emergency services on high alert and is issued when there is a major threat to citizens. National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) - As the name suggests, an alert/advisory system. Three levels, “Low,” “Elevated” or “Imminent.” Low meaning no major threats, normal risk of attack. Elevated meaning heightened risk of attack. Imminent meaning attack imminent, or about to happen. This rank is for those that are not officially a agent of DHS, but are going through the DHS academy. Federal Protective Service - Often referred to as Capitol Police, the Federal Protective Service (FPS), is the division concerned with protecting, combating and handling attacks against the capitol, and other Government buildings. The FPS will sometimes aid SS in protecting government officials in times of need. If a situation has started, or has involved intervention from homeland security, FPS may pursuit the suspect. Crisis Response Team - The Crisis Response Team (CRT), is tasked with responding to terror attacks, major shootings, high risk hostage situations, and similar. CRT can respond to any high risk call if requested by the county or state police. Other examples of calls CRT may respond to may include but are not limited to: 5+ armed suspects shooting or a government official taken hostage. They are usually never the first people to pick up a call, they are usually a assistance/backup unit. Secret Service - The Secret Service (SS) are tasked with the protection of high ranking government officials, including but not limited to the Governor, Lt. Governor, Speaker of the House, or the Founder. The SS can be considered “bodyguards” for government officials. They are the primary people that handle foot and vehicle escorts for government officials. In their spare time, they may aid the Federal Protective Service in defending the capitol building. Special Operations - Special Operations is simply defined as those that are trained in FPS. SS and CRT, and can perform the duties of any division. Agency Sergeant - Each division (FPS, SS & CRT) may have up to 2 agency sergeants at a time, for a total of 6 agency sergeants maximum. CRT Commander - Runs the Crisis Response Team. He/she is responsible for picking 2 agency sergeants and making sure his/her’s division is running effectively. All ranks from here are considered FHLS high command. FPS Chief - Runs the Federal Protective Service. He/she is responsible for picking 2 agency sergeants and making sure his/her’s division is running effectively. SS Director - Runs the Secret Service. He/she is responsible for picking 2 agency sergeants and making sure his/her’s division is running effectively. Advisory Board - The advisory board is made up of both FPS and CRT agents, which provide input and assistance to higher ranks on any problems or concerns. They have the same authority as an agency sergeant, but are involved in higher rank meetings to give input. Academy Director - The academy director is in charge of running the DHS academy. He/she is to ensure the DHS academy is effective and is teaching the agents what they need to know. Associate Director - The associate director assists the secretary and deputy secretary in running and managing DHS, in particular the academy. They help oversee the entire department, and alongside other HCOMM make sure the department is running smoothly. Deputy Secretary - The Deputy Secretary of DHS is in charge of working alongside the Secretary to run the department. The Deputy Secretary alongside the Secretary is in charge of managing all of the ranks in DHS and making sure the department is running effectively. Secretary - The Secretary of DHS manages the Department of Homeland Security. The Secretary ensures the department is running smoothly and is the highest rank in DHS. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 【SESSIONS & TRAINING】 There are 3 sessions academy enlistees will take which provide homeland security training to go on with their POST knowledge. Session 1 will be a joint training for CRT, SS and FPS, session 2 & 3 will be divided into the division you are in. • Session 1 - Introduction, FHLS Rules & Guidelines, how to handle a capitol breach, capitol lockdowns. how to search the capitol • Session 2 - CRT - Advanced hostage situations, mass shooting situations & tactics, which calls to respond to, capitol terror attacks, training practices & scenarios FPS/SS - Escorts, how to handle capital gates, basic government official protection tactics, how to handle GOs during a crisis • Session 3 - SS - Advanced government official protection tactics & stances, emphasis on methods on ensuring a GO’s safety, codewords/codenames. Performance evaluation, testing, final discussion.
