When they explained that we have the electoral college so states have a somewhat equal say in elections?
No wonder why you're all dumb |
actually i learned about it in 8th grade but i just think its pointless
im not a liberal |
thats when states were much more independent from each other, vastly different economies and social structures
we had people like jefferson pushing on state rights over federal
now its common knowledge that federal "trumps" (heh) state
at this point, you just give voters in smaller states more voting power then they should have, which is unfair

it just feels like a house of representatives for presidental election id rather just have popular vote instead of giving california enough electorals to fill twenty percent of the two hundred seventy quota rip

Agreed. Electoral College is so New York and California arent the whole election. Say we talk about Michigan. The whole state but say Detroit/Ann Arbor want someone. Electoral College is so Detroit doesn't decide who wins Michigan. |

popular vote would just empower mob mentality
which is terrible
the amount of land doesnt decide who votes, people are the ones who do
the detriot region has more people, so its only right that they get represented as such
curving the votes goes against the idea of a democracy

"curving the votes goes against the idea of a democracy"
good thing this country was never designed to be an "exact" democracy
the idea of an electoral college was created by the wealthy and social elites
there is a bias to the system and just because our founding father created it, doesnt mean its "RIGHT AND PERFECT"

You are all idiots.
The amount of electoral votes per state is determined by the population of that state, not the land mass. It sickens me to believe you people would believe for a moment that this system is a failure.
The actual problem in this country is the district system, a 2-member party district system is what prevents a 3rd party and 4th party from even being able to come-close to winning the election. Honestly, this is pathetic in all gratitude terms.
The idealism that "winner-takes-all" is a horrific system for the electoral college, we should follow Europes example in their systems of elections where it's based on percentages and math rather than winner-takes-all for each state.
Another point to remember is the fact that in Britain they have a horrific election system that allows the lower-half of the island to control the upper-half and the upper-half to decide the people for the lower-half.
Then there's the fact that there is a huge amount of voter fraud due to the design of each district within a state, when its legislation redistricts, it's not for unbiased reasons.. They're shaping the state so they have a higher chance for their party. |
