It's pretty stupid, and im pretty sure no one would do that.
When someone edits post, at the bottom of it, this appears:
Last edited by (Person) on (Day) (Month) (Number of day), (Year) (Hour), edited X times in total.

If you think this may be bad, just make the "delete button" a "hide thread button" so only mods or admins can see it. And if they review it, delete it afterwards.

If you think this addition can hurt someone in any way, look at the phpbb forum boards: they have an edit posts button, a delete thread button and a quote button and they are doing just fine.
Mods and Admins can delete and edit posts of other people too if they feel like it.
