I'm CalvinTLincoln, as you may know from above, and I'm writing before the ROBLOX Community on a matter that should be addressed upon and have altercations. Currently, whenever a player creates a group, they have to find a name, make sure it's not already taken, then pay for it so it's made. Once the group is made, the player can then choose to make role sets, run ads, etc. Once the group has been created, the player cannot alter with the name anymore. Once they have a name, it's there forever, no changes. This is why I'm here today.
I believe that players should have the ability to change their group names. Yes, this system may be abused and stuff, but there's limitations. The group name can only be changed ONCE, and there may be a fee involved. Like maybe the amount of role-sets you have is the amount of ROBUX you have to pay. Once you have your new name chosen, there is no turning back, whatsoever. Another limitation that can be put into use is the players moderation history. This is important because if a player is known to get banned for commenting inappropriate stuff or performing unethical behavior, we should know what their new group name would turn out to be. Another limitation is a certain member limit. Your group should surpass a certain amount of members, and if they don't meet those standards, then they are not eligible to change their group name.
Limits aside, lets talk about the importance of group name changes. Currently, there is a "demand" for RO-nations. If you don't know what that is, it's basically a country group on ROBLOX, with all its countries, departments, military, everything. One of the most popular RO-nation groups that keep sparking up is, The United States of America. Everyone tries to replicate it, and we all can't name our group "The United States of America" or "United States of America". (The one lucky person did though :P) Jokes aside, group creators are always scrambling trying to find a way to create a name for their group which is in the popular area, but also doesn't have a taken name. You have some groups who have to make their name like, "[:USA:] The United States of America", and "//||USA||\\ The United States of America." This doesn't look professional AT ALL. Once the player creating the group confirms their changes, there's no turning back. They're stuck with that name forever. Another reason is for copyright. No, just because ROBLOX gives you the privileges to create a group with whatever appropriate name doesn't mean they don't have the FTC or some other law department thing on their backs. Some groups who replicate real life companies have to go as far as writing "THIS IS NOT ANYWHERE AFFILIATED WITH THE REAL ____ IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM." If players had the option to change their group name, they could go away from the risk of a copyright strike or something and change their name to something that wouldn't have them stand in a ring of fire. This would also mean that players wouldn't have to always write, "THIS IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH ___ WHATSOEVER."
To close this off, I speak before the ROBLOX community trying to have this change occur. This is needed, and it should come into play as soon as possible. Originality is fading away because players are "sniping" group names away from other players because they don't have enough space to create another group or they don't have the funds to do so. Please look into my proposed plan and have it approved as soon as possible, it would have a good impact on the future of ROBLOX. Thank you.

I Claimed a group and want to rename it cause I Have to wait 1 week to get 100 robux...
I Have some kind of brain disorder where i can't think about what i'm spending (Or because i'm super braindead)
And to anyone who says "Buy another group" HOW ABOUT NAO! I Just spent 100 robux on a group! I'm not going to buy another group because of an embarrassing typo!

But I kind of disagree with the whole concept of the moderation history part.
Here's a summary of how the moderation system works:
- Scammers don't get banned
- Spammers don't get banned
- Exploiters don't get banned
- Forumers get warned, banned and terminated for even speaking slightly badly about ROBLOX or making a joke. And only banning the scammers, spammers and exploiters doesn't work, either, because forumers get bans that ruin their reputation throughout the HQ on a daily basis. |
