These are the official Special Teams Rules of the =NFL= National Football League =NFL=. KICKOFF RULES: KICKOFF: During a kickoff, if the ball lands out of bounds before the endzone, it will result in the receiving team being placed at the 40 yard line. If the ball hits the ground before traveling out of the back or side of the endzone, it is a touchback, the ball will be placed at the 25 yard line. KICKER: During a kickoff, the kicker MUST stand on the 35 yard line directly on the "X" placed in the middle. If the kicker does not stand here it will result in the ball being placed automatically at the receiving team's 40 yard line. The kicker is NOT allowed to recover his/her own onside kick. KICKING TEAM: The actual kicking team, which consists of the other 10 players lined up, MUST be lined up on or behind the 35 yard line. The kicking team may ONLY run forward once the ball is kicked into the air. If someone is to run before the ball is in mid-air, it will result in a penalty added onto the kickoff. RECEIVING TEAM: The receiving team may line up as far as the 35 yard line, but they may only line up on or behind the 35 yard line. Also, the receiving team may have as many people as they want on the 35 yard line, and as many people as they want back receiving a kick. The receiving team may also choose to fair catch the kick, or take a touch back if the ball lands in the endzone. Also, the receiving team may only run forward to block once the bal is kicked in mid-air. If a player is to move forward across the 35 yard line before the ball is in mid-air, it will result in a penalty added to the kickoff. To call a fair catch, the receiving team would notify a referee and say 'Fair Catch'. The spot at which the ball is caught is where it will be placed. To call a touch back if the ball lands in the endzone, the player with the ball would press the 'k' key while holding the ball. ONSIDE KICKS: In-game, you have a total of 2 onside kicks per half (e.g. 2 Onsides kick for both 1st and 2nd quarter). You have to announce both of these onside kicks, and they must pass the 50 yard line to be recovered. An onsides kick will not count if it passes the other team's 35 yard line, and you will still have that onside kick to use. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FIELD GOAL/POINT AFTER ATTEMPT RULES: KICKER: During a field goal or a PAT, the kicker must stand 10 yards from the LOS, and must use the kicking animation by pressing the 'r' key twice. Also, the kicker is not allowed to move before the animation, or it will result in a no good field goal. The kicker is also allowed to jump at the end of the animation to kick a field goal. KICKING TEAM: During a field goal or PAT, the kicking team is allowed to have the customary 5 offensive linemen, but may also have blockers standing away from the LOS, but not blocking the football's path to the kicker. Also, teams may line up more blockers near to the hashes, but must maintain only 5 offensive linemen. BLOCKING TEAM: Before a kick, the blocking team is not allowed to pre-stack, but they may stack once the ball is snapped. Also, they are allowed to tackle the kicker. During a field goal or PAT, if the defending team happens to block they kick, they may return it for a touchdown on a normal field goal and 2 points on a PAT. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SAFETY PUNT RULES: PUNTING: If the opposing team causes a safety, the team who was safetied must punt to the other team. In this case, the punting team would use the punting animation by pressing the 'r' key once. During a punt, the punting team must line up as if it is a regular kickoff. The punting team may also not punt out of bounds, as this will result in the ball being placed at the 40 yard line for the receiving team. Onside kicks may also not be attempted on a punt. This will also result in the ball being placed at the 40 yard line for the receiving team.
