This Forum will inform you on the basic requirements to make you able to function to the best of your ability and earn higher ranks in LCFD.

**Structure Fire Certification:
This class will inform you on what to do during House fires.
-Supply the trucks with water - Pull a 5 inch supply line to an engine to give them a steady water supply.
-Primary search - This will require you to force entry into a home (Use of halligan or axe) and conduct a right or left hand search until you have searched the whole home. In the end if you find someone it is a positive search and you remove them from the structure to EMS waiting outside. If the search is negative you didn't find anyone inside and wait for your next task.
-Interior attack - You will take a 1 3/4 attack line from the rear of the truck to try and save the house from inside the structure.
-Exterior attack - You will spray water from the outside in if the house is to involved to enter. AKA as defensive attack.
-Ventilation - A truck crew will usually do this by opening windows up or cutting roofs to allow heat and smoke to exit to make conditions inside easier for engine crews
-PPV (Positive Pressure Ventilation) - Set up a fan at any entrance to the home to force remaining smoke out of the structure (Usually done by truck or rescue)
-Secondary Search - Another search of the home to make sure the primary search didn't miss anything
-Overhaul - A process of opening walls and ceilings to find any remain fire using pike poles and Thermal Imaging Cameras (TIC's)
**Motor Vehicle Accident Certification:
-Cribbing - Stabilizing the car using wooden blocks stacked up or support rods for angled cars so that the vehicle doesn't move or roll anymore
-Stabilization - Will be done by placing a neck brace on the patients to prevent any further injury
-Extrication - Removing the patients if the vehicle is too badly damaged to open a door by using Cutters and spreaders. (Cutters cut support post) (Spreaders open doors)
-Debris Removal - Removing debris from roadway (Glass, metal, fluids)
**EMS Certification:
(Allows you to ride in any ambulance and wear a light blue helmet)
-CPR - Being able to keep someone who isn't breathing or has no heart beat alive
-Burn Treatments - Apply cold cloths to burned area and wrapping it in gauze to prevent infection
-Splinting - Placing braces on peoples broken bones to prevent further damage
-Securing for transport - Placing them on a back board using straps and head blocks to keep them from moving then placing on a stretcher to go into the ambulance
**BASIC:
-Learning your SCBA
-Learning Apparatus names and jobs
-Cleaning around the station
-Equipment Checks on apparatus
-Restocking Ambulance with Supplies
MISC:
(Ranges from what the Instructor Wants to teach that day)
-Hazmat
-Technical Rescue
-Brush Fires
-Dead Bodies
-Police Scenes
-Any of the Above
