getting a t25 (usually t10-15) win means nothing? playing and winning when the non-title game teams aren't means nothing?
you're right in the case of penn state vs michigan though, it doesn't end up meaning anything when penn state got thumped by michigan. but it matters for michigan or clemson, at least to the committee.
it's simply too hard to justify michigan jumping clemson for the committee. michigan has not only lost twice, but has lost back-to-back and didn't play this week. meanwhile clemson won against a T25 team this week.

tbh the fact that drexel university football team is not on in consideration for this list shows how biased college football really is. drexel has not lost a single game this season AND has not let up a single TD. |
