ive thought hard about this for the past 3 years
there's really not much you could do to bring big change that'd stay true to what standard SFing is

i've seen other clans do shields but that's less of a SF clan thing and more of a medieval genre thing

also don't do a scifi sword clan if youre looking for lore or a genre or whatever. a modern clan with swords is dumb. a scifi group with only swords is just bizarre and stupid if you ask me, unless it's like star wars or whatever.
what im saying is its only okay if you're like a hardcore genre-less group thats focused solely on stab stab

Different styles of swords, I'm thinking about Skyrim with Eleven, Orcish, Glass weapons I think that would be unique unlike the common linked sword which in my opinion needs to be fixed. |

@narcc, NB was super inventive, but it never really caught traction in the SF community. Probably because no one could practice with them since they were exclusively NB.
I think that futuristic clans can totally pull swords off. Although, they need to explain why they're using the a bit more.
What are your thoughts on custom swords with the same capabilities of a linked sword, but with sword skills like in sword art online? >>Cant be used at all times. You'd need to load up a bar.<<
Example: Fire power up burns a bit longer, ice slows you down, electric temp stuns you, etc. |

Sword clans can't sustain activity as it is, so why would you add elements that detract purist swordfighters even more than a split community has already? |

The name "Cobalt Nation" doesn't imply a time or era, so I don't think you're necessarily locked into sci-fi. But even if you were, it could be sci-fi in a totally different universe with their own sword culture and traditions.
Swords with multiple attack animations and parrying are quite popular, but no one has perfected it yet. You would need a good scripter for this. LinkedSwords are a bit dated, but they're better than a poorly made custom swordfighting system.
LinkedSword battles have always been a numbers game. Biggest team wins. Sure, some are better than others, but as opposed to guns, the skill ceiling is much lower.
It would be neat with a base that made skill more central. For example, you could have map layouts that tested which team best handles narrow chokepoints, low ceilings, obstacle courses and fighting at the same time, multi layered maps or holding capture points around the map (team distribution). |

@Logan, would be cool to bring the community back together! But it'd have to be through something that we all enjoy. Ofc not everyone is going to enjoy it and people (like a certain leader that we both know and love) may cling to the past still, but its worth a try if we have a fell oiled system.

Anyways. I agree with the whole new sword fighting method. For it to catch on though, it'd need to be relatively easy to do. See, from my point of view, guns do take strategy and aiming, but in the end of the day (in most cases), you're holding down the mouse button and just moving your mouse around. I think swords can be a number's game, yes, but it also takes skill to take down your opponent. Knowing how not to tie every time. Knowing how to find an opening. I could go on and on.
I think the idea for a map could be fantastic though. We'd just need to find a way to make it fair because thats what most sword clans complain about. |

If a new sword system/way of fighting was released, it'd definitely need to be released to the public so that they could help it to catch on. |
