Backstory In the year 2032, the world war between military alliances NATO and ACMF reached a breaking point and caused an event known as the Flash. Nuclear ICBMs flew across the globe striking the countries belonging to the alliances. ACMF forces leading the invasion of the United States were trapped on the continent after the massive EMP waves took out their vehicles. The USMC-led invasion on the New Chinese Empire failed after the same waves crashed their vehicles in Japan. The nuclear apocalypse sent nations all over the world into a state of anarchy and terror. Radiation and pre-war viruses warped people into horrible mutants. All hope seemed lost for the survivors of the Flash. The United States government fell, but its remnants reformed a year later into the USCPF, a group hell-bent on rebuilding the United States of America and killing any hostiles to their goal. In the mid-2030’s, another group arose. The Civilian Defense Front. They were a militia made of mainly civilians and refugees. The CDF sought to rebuild civilization and provide safety for the people of the wasted states. All over the country, these factions worked to establish safety and peace. Scrap towns were built to house civilians, military bases were reclaimed from hostile forces, and supplies were gathered and handed out to people in need. Most locations in the United States turned to hotspots of civilization by the 2060s. However, there were several places where groups struggled to get by daily. One such location is in the American Northwest near Idaho Falls. In the bunker littered hills, scorched valleys, and infected waterways there is still conflict. It’s here that in the year 2059 mutants roam free terrorizing refugees, the CDF struggles to defend their territory, and the USCPF practices isolationism. Locations Idaho Falls: The largest town in Eastern Idaho. After the nuclear apocalypse of 2032, the town was put under martial law. It stayed as the largest functioning location in Idaho where the government and law still remained until 2034 when gangs and looters ransacked the town and killed its inhabitants. In 2037, CDF moved into the town and made it into their home. Today, Idaho Falls is one of the CDF settlements in Idaho. Rexburg: A small township North of Idaho Falls. The town is empty save for a few squatters. Most buildings are in ruins. Newdale: A group of blocks off of I-33. The USCPF resides here and uses it as an outpost. They’ve made living quarters out of the homes and storage facilities out of the stores. Most greenhouses that were intact when they arrived are used for growing crops. Mutants cross through the nearby area often. Lewisville: A group of blocks North of Idaho Falls. Home to the Mountain Men, an organized group of bandits that live off the land. Most travelers steer clear of the area. Grand Teton National Park: The only source of clean water in the Idaho Falls area. Most other water is infected with Rad-X or highly irradiated, but the water here is clean, fresh, and clear. A civilian faction called the Harvesters reside here. Grand Teton Bunker: A massive pre-war government bunker built into the side of the Grand Teton. It was designed by Idaho Governor Rockmore in the year 2021. Its purpose was to serve as a safe place for government officials of Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho in case of disaster. After the bunker was finished in 2029, it was stocked with enough supplies to last thirty years. When the missiles hit Boise in 2032, Governor Rockmore of Idaho, Governor Clydale of Montana, and Governor Tyson of Wyoming headed to the bunker with their detail, representatives, and senators. As far as any locales know, the bunker doors have remained sealed since 2032. Fort Driggs: What used to be a public airstrip was transformed by the USCPF into a makeshift air force base. The site is guarded with many personnel and a singular VTOL. The USCPF receive shipments of provisional supplies from the West coast every few months. The population here is not nearly as isolationist as the group in Newdale, as they sometimes leave the base for patrols. Jackson: A large town in North-West Wyoming. It was infested with mutants for 15 years before the CDF came along and took from them. It’s now a major hub of trade. Travelers from route 22 and 191 come in at least a few times every month. Many of them settle down, but some continue on. Factions United States Civilian Preservation Force: This faction has been around ever since 2033, making it almost 30 years old. Before the release of vaccinations for the Rad-X virus, the USCPF’s main goal was to eliminate the mutants. At present, they continue to keep this promise as they deplete the mutant populations each day. In Idaho, they are somewhat isolationist, mostly keeping to themselves and rarely leaving their territory. Some say they have communication with pre-war officials from the Grand Teton Bunker, but those are just rumors. They reside in Newdale and Fort Driggs. Civilian Defense Front: This faction has been around since the mid 2030's. Over the years, the CDF has helped thousands of civilians find a job and a place to live in the hundreds of 'scrap towns' located all over the US. Their goals are to provide for the undefended and undersupplied. They own the town of Idaho Falls and Jackson. Harvesters: A group of civilians who lived near Grand Teton National Park before the bombs dropped. They reside in a large campground near a fresh water source. They harvest the fresh water at the source, then travel in lightly guarded caravans to the civilized settlements of Idaho to trade. They’ve made quite a positive name for themselves doing this. Mountain Men: An organized group of bandits residing in Lewisville. Most of them were hillbillies living near or in Lewisville. They are extremely hostile to people that are not associated with them. They protect their territory viciously from “foreigners”. They aren’t very fond of the CDF or USCPF claiming locations in their vicinity. Mutants: Horribly mutated human beings. They have no particular zone of control in Idaho. Most of them roam the countryside and ruined towns looking for people to terrorize. United States Marine Corps, God bless 'em.
