yeah, the game I'm working on is about the need for independence and self-reliance and whatnot, how external dependencies are a bad thing, etc. etc.
It uses things like clickbait and social justice and all that sort of crap and paints it into a negative light (ie, extrapolating and building a world where such things are taken to an absolute extreme... imagine Ninteen Eighty Four on steroids.)
very dystopian sci-fi, aiming for a feel reminiscent of Metal Gear without the humor.

I've already written a cardboard box joke into the 2nd mission of it, (this is a stealth action sci-fi rpg thing) where your 2nd in command guy placeholder guy tells you that there's some cover to the left you should use to hide from the enemy or something
player character says there's nothing there, and he reiterates he means the cardboard box.
player character sighs, says this is a horrible idea, and no way they'll fall for it, and goes into the box.
it's not entirely humorless, I'll probably add in a joke about metal legs somewhere too lol (the player character is a fox, who's father is a legendary war hero which was killed by an exile sent to a far away planet... and is seeking vengeance for his death and blah blah blah... sound familiar?)
if I do make a sequel I'll probably #### ### the player character in the first 20 minutes ala Mass Effect 2... but do it differently. Completely differently.

Something more fitting belonging to an outcast hero or fallen hero thing, not so much 'we're the good guys and here to kick orcs out' sort of vibes most of everything in the WOD soundtrack gives off
