Generally I only watch roleplaying and don't participate that much, but you'd be surprised at how fun the art of improvisation can be.
I mean, just look at Dungeons & Dragons. I didn't think much of it, but after watching some videos I feel like it would be a shame if I didn't try it out at least once in my lifetime.

This is not pointed at crow's post specifically, but really more to anyone who thinks that the only "real" roleplaying is the elitist crap they do, because that mindset is really close-minded and unforgiving.

I put asterisks around legitimate to specify what is commonly considered role-playing in this forum: there are various types of role-playing, but forum role-playing usually only occurs in one form, which is that of typing out paragraphs in a novel-style way. There are plenty of people that I know who don't follow this form of role-playing, which I consider completely fine, but it's just that he gave an example--also a troll example--of what he mocked role-playing to be. Mockery often resembles what someone truly believes, but to a different extent. Considering that he's not a role-player, I assumed that he didn't know the different between game role-playing and forum r---
