Seaside High School ~ Student Handbook
Our mission is to create the best learning environment on the West Coast, and to provide an enjoyable experience for our students.
I- Basic School Rules----------
These are the basic school rules, to ensure a positive learning environment for all students.
1. Be respectful to all students. (Being disrespectful results in being kicked from the class, game, or even group)
2. Show up to your class on time, and prepared. (Being late results in a tardy, and your teacher will choose to dismiss or give a consequence for it.)
3. There isn't a proper dress code, but students are expected to wear proper clothing. (Basically, the rule is to show up wearing some sort of clothing.)
4. If a teacher assigns a homework assignment, it is expected to be done. (If not finished, teacher will choose consequence- such as a failing grade or hosting a meeting.)
5. Inform a teacher or the principal of an absence, before or after it happens. (Students will be expected to get assignments from their teachers before/after the absence.)
6. For questions/concerns/information on the rules, please private message the principal.
II- School Services----------
These are a list and description of all services provided by the school, such as tutoring and sports.
1. Sports
Sports include football, basketball, cheerleading, and track/field.
All students are required to attend a sports meeting before competing in a sport. Students are not allowed to participate with failing grades, or an extreme amount of unexcused absences.
2. Clubs
Clubs include book club, drama club, art club, gaming club, yearbook club, and photography club. All students are allowed to join in clubs, and students can start their own clubs by messaging the principal.
3. Tutoring
All students have the opportunity to visit their teachers at any time for a tutoring session. Students can request a tutoring session by messaging their teachers or the principal.
4. Dances
All students are allowed to participate in school dances. Each year, we have 3 formal dances, where students are required to dress up. (A clothing machine is installed for students who don't have their own formal clothing.)
5. Career/College Classes
These classes are avalible only to the seniors. These classes help prep for their careers and college life. These classes are optional, but are highly reccomended to take. Students have the opportunity to tour college campuses, talk one-on-one with people who have their dream career, and learn about life after highschool.
III- Schedules/ Student Records/ Report Cards----------
Schedules are given to all students based on the classes they choose to take. They are required to attend each class on their schedule, and to contact the principal for a schedule change if needed.
Student Records are used to keep track of a student's grades, sport/club participation, and attendance. Students are allowed to view and make changes to this any time, but contact the principal first.
Report cards are issued at the end of each quarter, and can be viewed at any time when reuqested.
IV- Honor Class Qualification----------
In order to qualify for honor classes, a student must have-
-all A's and B's on their semester report card
-be involved in one school sponsered activity (Club, College/Career Class, Sport)
