Here's the basic idea:
People argue over whether a base is too hard to raid, but we also forget that each clan has a different skill set. Lower, less known clans generally have the lowest skill set, while other clans are somewhere in the middle, and that leaves power or hype clans usually at the very top with the highest raiding force and skill value.
What if we had a base that had difficulty levels? We all want raids to be challenging, but not impossible, and if they're TOO easy they're not fun for the defenders as much either or the attackers.
Here's the basis of my idea, it's something me and Cuilan just talked over. What if we had a way that you could message us in TCD your preferred skill set for your clan? (Easy, Medium, Hard, etc. add more if needed)
This would in turn on easy:
- Grant more cover for the raiding team
- More key strategic point access
- Maybe even speed up capture times and point values on a difficulty like super easy??
- Make bases much more fun and challenging for both sides
While on the other hand for hard:
- Less cover
- Less point access
- More defender sided
We understand who is defending will always be a slight variable, but other than that this idea is almost flawless in my plans I have for it.
Say you want your clan to start at easy, they beat it flawlessly, they move to medium and it's an actual battle for the fort, then there we go. This would promote more raiding from all clans entirely.

then you'd just argue over what skill level each raid should be at during a war
Claw away at the systems. |

bad idea, because then everyone would pick easy. just make a fair base for both sides and thats all you have to do

"then you'd just argue over what skill level each raid should be at during a war"
I doubt TCD would argue unless a certain group has been 100% steamrolling us on easy difficulty 5 times in a row.......

Or could do two bases, an easier base and a hard base.
But the easy base not too easy, and the hard base not too hard.
But imo, if a clan enjoys raiding a fort, they'll raid the fort, taking to account the challenges of that fort. |

Well that's the beauty of it, if everyone picks easy and they're winning almost flawlessly each time we can bump it up for them as a test run until we find their equal playing field.
I think it will mostly benefit the more raiding heavy clans like VOID or Vak that want a challenge.
While the no-name clans that raid TCD (we've had a few) would be happy to be on easy
That OR--
We could have medium as like a "qualifying" round

"make it detect a group raiding and make it group-specific so someone like SF can't select easy but VOID can"
While that's a great idea, the only variable I have there is for some clans they like to raid us with regulars, and do separate raids with their elite forces.
I think I could compile a database from my HRs on the raids and get feedback from the raiding teams HRs also to help sort it out.
Since a TCD HR is required to start anyway

Interesting concept. I would see where it goes, but obviously have a back up just in case everything goes wrong. If the idea doesn't work, just set it on medium and be done I guess.
We will prevail under the holy light of DieSoft. |

That's the idea, thanks for the support. I just really want everyone to have a better raiding experience and all in all us get more raids at NG that aren't either us getting steamrolled, or an easy defense.
But are ACTUALLY challenging

You could expand on compiling a database tracking each players statistics, then grouping it up into overall whole team points and then have it compare both teams and decide to choose an easy, medium or hard difficulty. However, this might be quite complex and flawed if people have not raided the base before so you might want to make an "average" point score for a newcomer to be able to choose an appropriate difficulty. |

@seviro
We just talked over it again in the TCD discord and we might actually be doing something like you recommended, so ignore what I said a second ago, thanks for the idea!

We're not grade A scripters over here, so our ability is limited regarding a database. However, I like the idea and I also think having an average area for newcomers would be quite nice also.

That isn't difficult to execute, really just depends on how complex do you want the algorithm for the "skill" level to be judged on, you can have something as basic as KDR judgement to something more complex such as kill assists, damage dealt, points assaulted and defended. I do understand though, getting good scripters for a decent price is difficult. |

if you do what sev does you'd need to be constantly rating clans and finding new ones
What if a clan wants to raid that isn't in your DB? |
|
|
"What if a clan wants to raid that isn't in your DB?"
They get either the recommended difficulty or the set average to set as a test difficulty so either be lowered or raised.

this would work well if you get repeatedly raided by the same clans over and over
no idea if that's TCD or it's more like a random clan contacts you for one raid and never raids again for a long time |
|
|
@tot
We get raided by a lot of the same clans on multiple occasions, and we want to keep welcoming those raids, that's why I have proposed this
Some of the no-name clans we do contact, but most of them even though they lose like raiding either way, we'd want to enhance that experience for them.
