when you vote for a president in the primary you're electing a representative at the electoral college to vote for you. you're not voting for your pick directly. not sure what about that isn't democratic.
direct democracy (majority rule) is bad: it allows the majority the means to to suppress and oppress the minority without checks. the general population of a nation are not intelligent people, they're easily influenced crybabies. hysteria is very prevalent in mass populations as we've seen this election. thank god that there is no direct democracy or we'd be in a terrible place. |
