The union isn't some law or requirement to live in the North American continent.
Nor is it binding, the USA would have to kick out their over like 30 operational bases in the California coast. But hey ya know |

CalExit is bad, from a democrat standpoint.
Normally California goes democratic in the electoral college, so if they left the union, that's -55 electors.

Some issues I can think from the top of my head is
Small increase on taxes
Loss of electors and representatives
Business would be separated from America and into Cal
California domestic security
International trade |

the taxes thing i understand
i dont really understand what you mean with the representative thing being thats proportional by state anyway
business thing i understand but on the other hand there must be some net positives also
they can form their own military the same way other similarly sized nations would
they can form their own international trade agreements the same way other similarly sized nations would |

By electors, I mean -55 electors from the electoral college, and since California is mainly democratic, the DNC will take losses more easily in the following elections
It'd be much harder for Cal to form a military. They'd have to increase tax and ask other countries for help, which would lead to debt and such.
Cal's trade with America, and they'd be taxed since it'd be international trade. |
