It's disrupting the community as we cannot properly communicate compared to earlier years. I am not able to say "Friend" alone in game or it's tagged. I cannot say "Granted" alone or it's tagged. Yes, I get how it's completely necessary to filter some words and phrases, but this is a little too extreme. The filter is no longer stopping people from swearing or committing personal attack, it's preventing people from speaking completely innocent phrases. This gets in the way when I'm trying to discuss creating a game with someone in-game. It usually goes something like
"I like your idea, but here's a few things we can #######. First, add a ######## here and ####### that ######## into ###### ###### ####### make sure not to mistake ######## with #########"

Considering ROBLOX is a community oriented game, I think community should be it's primary focus. Again, I see how it is necessary to make sure we're not flaming or insulting each other, but the filter trying to catch every new-fangled way people are typing inappropriate things is blocking innocent words.
As this thread is titled "Suggestions & Ideas", let me make a suggestion.
I suggest loosening the filter a bit. It's currently resembling a noose and it's getting tighter. A lot of people are not giving ROBLOX a proper chance because they find themselves unable to type things that are acceptable to say in Kindergarten. The filter a year or so back was completely fine. It could use some tune ups to account for using numbers to replace words and things of that sort, but nonetheless, it would be an improvement.
I know I am just an outspoken OldGen*. I wasn't happy when the new animations came out for Sword Fighting. I wasn't happy when the Man and Woman/3.0/Boy and Girl packages came out. I've gotten used to those. I love the R15. It's interesting, but I'd still like to keep R6. My point is some OldGens liked New Animations when they came out. Some like the packages. There isn't a single fan, OldGen or new players, that'll praise the filter as it is.
*- OldGen or Old Generation refers to ROBLOXians who have been around more than a few years. I'm an 08'er myself.

I completely agree with the assessment. Support.
These days I can seldom say something without it being censored. It's absolutely bonkers, and it annoys me how it never used to be that way, and whilst yes you'd get the odd individual who'd do something devious, the vast majority didn't.
With the path ROBLOX is taking, it'll soon get to the point where you can't say a word without fearing some automatic ban or overly sensitive filter crucifying you. |

I agree. The old [ Content Deleted ] was not the best but it got a lot of swears, unlike with today you can barely communicate with anyone without some special chat thats unfiltered, even then you can still get filtered for it. |

Roblox is aware of this problem. But, every time they try to fix it, it gets worse.
So you're going to have to deal with it. Because roblox isn't going to remove it.

Anyways notice how I said "In-Game" filters.
It doesn't make sense that the in-game filters are much more strict than the filter on the forums.
The coding doesn't need to be fixed. It's the amount of completely innocent words that are being blocked. |
