*I believe it necessary to write a piece discussing my thoughts on the AD in terms of its affect on the group. This forum post is that piece.* When looking at the armored division, it is important to analyze the division in terms of the only goal a war/military group really has. That goal is winning wars against other groups. This goal can be further broken into two main sub goals. The two main sub goals of a group. These goals are: (1) the achievement of activity and (2) the achievement of skill. This must be done with both theory and practicality, making it a rather tricky business indeed, but something we must strive to do successfully if we wish for the group to be successful nonetheless. On the subject of the first goal, the it would appear at first glance that the AD has been a very large part of the group's coming back from terrible inactivity. This is, however, obviously far more attributable to the fact that it is a division than the fact that it is the armored division. Inactivity stems from a lack of events being held consistently. Having divisions increases the number of people capable of holding events for the group, or at least part of it. Without divisions, the only people capable of holding any sort of events would be a small number of high ranks, who also have the duty of overseeing the entirety of the group. With any division existing, there is added to this a number of people who would be incapable of holding an event in the main group but are able to hold an event in the division. Since more people are now capable of holding events, more events are held. This thus increases activity. The second goal a group has, that being achieving skill, is from a practical standpoint not aided by the AD. This is not to say that the AD does not posses skill. On the contrary, they are quite good at their jobs. The issue that comes into play is that the skills possessed by the AD are not especially applicable to the main goal of out military, that being winning wars. Most bases that are available for us to raid do not have the equipment that the AD's training is based around, that being tanks. Some of the bases that do have them only have them for the team that owns the base, meaning we don't get to use them or have extremely limited use of them. This means that in terms of us attacking another group's base it is usually beneficial for us to focus our training around infantry tactics and gun use rather than the use of vehicles. In terms of us defending out own base, it is also arguable that RA would be better off not having tanks at our bases, which means it would be beneficial to focus around infantry training as opposed to AD training. The reason this is, is the fair raiding principle. Under this principle the raiders have the same equipment as RA. RA has no inherent advantages and the base is as fair as possible. This leaves two options: (1) both sides have tanks or (2) neither side has tanks. If both sides have tanks, RA will actually be disadvantaging itself in a raid. This is due to the fact that our tanks would only be allowed to be used by members of the AD whereas the raiders would be using as many tanks as possible. In a scenario where fifteen raiders are raiding fifteen RA soldiers and two of those soldiers are in the AD you may very well be looking at seven tanks and one infantry (raiders) versus one tank and thirteen infantry (RA). Generally, that sort of armor disadvantage is at best difficult to overcome. If there are no tanks, then you are looking at fifteen infantry who may or may not spend all their time practicing infantry tactics and gun fighting (raiders) versus fifteen infantry who do spend all their time practicing infantry tactics and gun fighting (RA). This should lead to a RA victory or at least a good fight. Given the above, it would appear that the AD is having no intrinsic affect on RA's activity that any other sort of division would not and that is is hurting RA's ability to perform in raids. Due to this, my proposal would be to close the AD and open up multiple infantry divisions in its place.
