Section II: PROMOTIONS GUIDE:
Ranking in the United States Army, after the ranks of E8, are based on position/job solely.
Each Unit/Regiment/Division/Command shall create a rank guide, specific to the duties and ranks.
No promotions shall be gained when passing a training after the rank of E3 (Private First Class)
Definitions:
Division or Command Officer refers to any officer past the rank of Captain (O3) in the division or command who is in charge or oversees of the specific person

IET: (Initial Entry Training) - Training Phase
How to gain: Join the U.S Army
E2: (Private) - First rank in the U.S Army.
How to gain rank: Pass a IE#
E3: (Private First Class) -
How to gain rank: Attend and pass a ACT
E4A: (Specialist) - A enlisted who served a long while or worked well in a division.
How to gain rank: Serve Two weeks in the U.S Army or perform exceptional in your division.
E4B: (Corporal) a non-commissioned officer and may direct the activities of other soldiers.
How to gain rank: Be a E3 #r E4A, and be promoted to this rank by your Division or Command Officer.
E5: (Sergeant) a non-c#mmissioned officer and may direct the activities of other soldiers, or a Drill#Instructor or a posit#on in a Divis#on.
How to gain rank: Be a E3 o# E4a/E4b, be selected by your Division or Command Officer or serve two months of active service.
E6: (Staff Sergeant) - a non-commissioned officer and may direct the activities of other soldiers, a Drill Sergeant in TRADOC or a position in a Division that requires this ranking.
How to gain rank: Be a E4B#or a E5 #nd be promoted to this rank by your Division or Command Officer.
E7: (Sergeant First Class) a non-commissioned officer and may direct the activities of other soldiers, a Drill Sergeant in TRADOC or a position in a Division that requires this ranking.
Be a E5 or a E6 and be promoted to this rank by your Division or Command Officer.
E8A: (Master Sergeant) - a non-#ommissioned officer and may direct the activities of other soldiers, a Dril# Sergeant in TRADOC or a posi#ion in a Divi#ion that requires this ranking.
E8B: (First Sergeant) a non-commissioned officer and may direct the activities of other soldiers, a Drill Sergeant in TRADOC or a position in a Division that requires this ranking.
E9A: (Sergeant Major) - a non-commissioned officer and may direct the activities of other soldiers, a Drill Sergeant in TRADOC or a position in a Division that requires this ranking. Two per command/division only.
How to gain: Hold the paygrade of of E6,E7 or E8 and be picked by your Command Sergeant Major or Commanding Officer for the position.
E9B: (Command Sergeant Major) - command sergeant major (CSM)—is the senior enlisted advisor to the commanding officer.
How to gain rank: Be picked by your CO to serve in this role of leadership and advisory. One per division and command only.
E9C: (Sergeant Major of the Army) - The Senior Advisor to the CSA/VCSA, only one may hold the title at a time. Head of the Enlisted.
How to gain rank: Be picked by the CSA/VCSA
O1: (Second Lieutenant)
How to gain rank: Be a E6 and higher and pass the Officer Candidate School (OCS) or other approved Academic Programs.
O2: (First Lieutenant)
How to gain rank: Be a O1 a#d##e selected by your officer.
O3: (Captain) only gained if they are appointed to positions that require the officer to hold such a rank.
How to gain: Be a O1 o# ##.
O4: (Major) - only gained if they are appointed to positions that require the officer to hold such a rank.
How to gain: Be a O2 or O3
O5: (Lieutenant Colonel) - only gained if they are appointed to positions that require the officer to hold such a rank.
How to gain: Be a O3 or O4 and be appointed
O6: (Colonel) - gained if they are appointed to positions that require the officer to hold such a rank.
How to gain rank: hold the paygrade of either O3,O4,O5 and be appointed
O7: (Brigadier General) - Officers may only achieve one-star grade if they are appointed to positions that require the officer to hold such a rank.
O8: (Major General) Officers may only achieve two-star grade if they are appointed to positions that require the officer to hold such a rank.
O9: (Lieutenant General) Officers may only achieve three-star grade if they are appointed to positions that require the officer to hold such a rank.
For Executive Officer roles - Appointed by a General (O10) with approval of the CSA/VCSA/CiC
O10: (General) - Officers may only achieve four-star grade if they are appointed to positions that require the officer to hold such a rank, and direct approval of the Commander-In-Chief or the Chief of Staff of the Army. |
