From what I've seen on the EHM forums, it is now possible to create playable leagues (although there is still some limitations to this). With that being the case, I think I'll give it a shot. So does anybody have any idea on what league i should do to start? |

That was the first one that came to mind for me. Wouldn't be the easiest league to start with but I could give it a shot. |

lemme know if you need any help with rules |

Gotta put some finishing touches on the Golden Knights database first. Might start off with a simpler league first just to get a feel for it, idk. |

European junior leagues, especially MHL |

Tested making a playable league with the Belarus Hockey League. Got it working properly, although I did heavily rely on the settings used for the top Swiss League (since both have 12 teams) and I didn't test the playoffs. I think I'll keep testing this out until I feel comfortable enough creating playable leagues, then do the MHL first since that seems like it will be easier to do.

Couple things I need to note for the Belarusian league:
I might be wrong on this but 5 of the teams are affiliated with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL (Molodechno, Gomel, Zhlobin, Grodno, Soligorsk). The only one that's DEFINITELY affiliated is Molodechno.
Dinamo Bobruisk is no longer a team in the league, they were replaced by the Belarus U20 national team. (For the sake of not totally breaking the database I wouldn't recommend changing this)
The league has two "rounds" that work exactly like how EHM does the EBEL. The 12 teams split into two groups after 22 games and then play a "second round" with the top six teams playing in one group for seeding (as all of them are guaranteed to make the playoffs) and the bottom six battling for the last two playoff spots. The second round is 20 games.
Playoffs are 8 teams so you won't need to change that.

Wasn't really trying to accurately create the Belarus league, just wanted to play around with the settings for creating playable leagues for testing.

i might try the regular season scheduling since it would be good to figure out multi-stage regular seasons |
|
|
Try using the Austrian league (EBEL) as a template for the Belarus league since it actually has the multi-stage stuff by default. |

How does the MHL work? Is the relationship between it and the KHL similar to that of the NHL and CHL? |

Nevermind, just read up on it. Since some of these teams are feeders for the VHL, I might do that league first. |

Set the Belarusian league to be like the EBEL, ran through the first stage of the regular season and Yunost Minsk has absolutely dominated the league so far.
Regular season standings (W-L-OTW/SOW-OTL/SOL):
1. Yunost (37-2-2-3) 118 pts.
2. Neman (23-13-2-6) 79 pts.
3. Gomel (22-15-6-1) 79 pts.
4. Soligorsk (22-17-3-2) 74 pts.
5. Dinamo U20 (17-17-7-3) 68 pts.
6. Vitebsk (18-15-3-8) 68 pts.
------------------------------------------------
7. Khimik-SKA (18-19-3-4) 64 pts.
8. Dinamo (18-20-3-3) 63 pts.
9. Zhlobin (17-21-5-1) 62 pts.
10. Mogilev (11-28-2-3) 40 pts.
11. Brest (11-29-2-2) 39 pts.
12. Lida (9-27-3-5) 38 pts.
Side notes: Yunost has a 16 game winning streak going into the second stage of the season. I wasn't entirely sure if the teams are right, I just used the teams that were already listed for the league in the database.

Dinamo-Molodechno and Khimik-SKA moved on from the lower stage to the playoffs.
#1 Yunost vs #8 Khimik-SKA
#2 Neman vs #7 Dinamo-Molodechno
#3 Gomel vs #6 Vitebsk
#4 Soligorsk vs #5 Dinamo U20

The heavily favored Yunost got a scare from #2 Neman after dropping the first two games against them, but Yunost came back and won the next 4 to win the championship.
I think I'm decently comfortable enough with this to try another league. I'm thinking either the VHL or MHL.

Things to consider
1. Creating playable leagues is fairly new, so it's still a WIP. Could be some bugs.
2. EHM isn't meant to be played outside of the playable leagues that are currently offered, so there may be some limitations to whatever leagues you try to do.

Also make sure you have the most recent version of the DB editor, I don't think older versions have the ability to edit league rules and structures.

Decided to do the VHL first since there are some MHL teams that are feeders to VHL teams as well as KHL teams. Finished that, so I will do MHL then look into NCAA.
