The NHL should rethink its double standard on contact to the head.
I'm beginning to notice a trend here with intentional stick-to-head contact (DuncanKeith on Charlie Coyle / Gustav Nyquist on JaredSpurgeon) getting less games of suspensions than body-to-head contact (JS28 on Loui Eriksson / James Wisniewski on Cal Clutterbuck).
Note that body-to-head contact can easily be just an accident/bad timing and positioning, even when the person in question may be a repeat offender. What Keith and Nyquist did is literally assault with a weapon. In fact, this is exactly what happened when Marty McSorley took a baseball swing at Donald Brashear's head in 2000. |
