i haven't been posting as much as i used to and in general it comes down to me saying "why even bother?" and just not posting
basically it should be no surprise to anyone that the quality of this forum has declined significantly in the past year, there is little to no serious discussion of sports of any kind, there is constant arguing over things nobody here knows anything about (including but not limited to politics), and literally nonstop ****-posting
now of course none of these things are new, they've just all increased to dramatic levels and now completely consume this forum
i know i say this place is terrible like, very frequently, but the reality is that there is little i can do besides just posting about sports and trying to incite discussion, the only real solutions would be either everyone still left at this forum starts posting about sports more, or we employ more serious moderation to try to steer discussion towards a direction more akin to the traditional topic of this subforum
obviously neither of those solutions are within my control which is why i've just decided to withdraw myself from this place more and more
so anyway yeah, those are my thoughts, maybe it's the fact that for the last few weeks i've actually been doing activities outside of spending my life on the internet, which always makes me realize how bad this place is, or maybe it's just because i'm getting too old for this site
i just wanted to get these thoughts out there before i go out because this has been on my m##d for a while and i owe it to this place to express them considering this is year 5 of being an active member of this community

Meh, honestly I feel like the SF is better in some ways although it's worse than others, and I've been here for over 6 years (experiencing the peak of the "old oh so much better SF").
The main con is obviously the decline in activity. You would think with ROBLOX blowing up like it has more people would be flooding in, but the marketing team has done everything within its' power to hide the forums so even though ROBLOX is around 5-6 times the size it was back in 2011, the SF is somehow half as big (and that's being generous lol).
Posts and flamewars about politics/religion have always been intertwined with the SF and will be for the forseeable future. IMO it's gotten a little better actually.
The one really refreshing thing I've seen with the new SF is with the community getting slightly smaller we no longer have the negative aspects of the community. We no longer have giant exclusionary cliques on the SF and a lot of the big shots from like 09 are gone with a few exceptions (and people still aroudn from 08-09 like cap and donny didn't exploit this anyway).
With them the idea of having to constantly bully/harass the new guys and having to worship "Classic SFers" has died too. If me, cap, or ##### ### ######### #### we say ######### ##### and if a newer guy like case or paco has a good point then they have a good point. There is no more tribal caste system on the forum and no respect is given, which results in us being able ot have good, open discussions since there's no incentive to kiss#############ind for SF brownie points.
TBH if anyone who's a vet of more than 5 years hasn't realized ### ##### ## ### old chauvinistic tribe mentality you probably participated in it in some way. |

Also to anyone who thinks the old SFers were better you're wrong but I can see why this is how you see things;
Most of us vets are at least 18 now so we're very mature compared to the newer SFers that are 12-16. However, back in the "good old days" we were the same age as these sheetposters, and with our age we were just as immature if not more so. |

Want proof of what I just said? Try to find 3 threads from today where someone is being hunted down and burned at the stake for being a "bandwagon", and being interrogated over everything they've ever done and every place they've ever went to see if they are really allowed to like the teams that they like or not. Should we find this person guilty of breaking this unwritten capital offense, we of course reserve ourselves the right to cyberbully them until they can't post a single thread without getting harassed, forcing them to eventually leave the forum. Boy the old SF was great. BTW cheesey don't take this as me coming after you I love you #### <3. I just think nostalgia is a really bad psychological reaction. |

90% of ### people that say "OLD SF WAS AMAZING" don't actually look back at their old posts and if they did they would realize ### SF was way more immature as a whole than it is now. Sure, we have immature people (you know ### you are), but in ### old days it was literally ### entire forum that was immature. |
