i was just bugging out about the prospects of being a communications major cause apparently it doesnt pay well
then i realized A: not many people my age have good reasons for choosing their major and B: it can pay very well if you network
im considering getting a degree in economics as well. i love social sciences so it would be fun. a person with a degree in communications AND economics would be highly sought after
actually did some research about my top college's communication major
not what i was looking for
guess ill have to switch lol |
just stay undeclared until after your freshman year if you need to, they'll let you do that pretty sure you have to decide on a major by ### end of your freshman year though |
i really should have looked deeper into this lol
any idea how easy it is to switch majors? |
not that hard once you're already at the school at more prestigious universities where the academic standards are high and ##### ## ends up being hard to change your major because you have to catch up and stuff |
i feel like theyre gonna look at me weird when i come in the first day and tell them i want to switch my major
then again who cares |
Sports is the only thing i care about
so to sports management we go |

"Sports is the only thing i care about
so to sports management we go"
this is what i mean by little thought being put into this stuff lol. its actually comforting in a way
i have one friend whose getting some sort of agriculture degree cause he likes the outdoors and another whose majoring in marketing cause he once "sold a kid a rock" so he thinks hell be good at it (to be fair hes a great speaker and would be good at it)

Marketing is similar to communications and it has more options. If i were you i would major in marketing and minor in economics/communications |
cant find any colleges with marketing
but i can go to a college for real cheap and major in economics then minor in communications
also i plan on writing as a paid blogger regardless on the side. im actually a tremendous writer and it would be a nice supplement to my income. i could also write a book which i am STRONGLY considering
and i can bet on sports |
Listen to Muffin, ithe, he's got a point |
refreshingly, i viewed the courses required for a marketing major, and it requires a lot of math. henceforth, this major is not for me. that cuts down on the overwhelming (to most people) number of options |
if all else fails i can always become a teacher. here in the top state for education they make a decent salary |
Little thought? I have done extensive research in the sports industry and realize to get a job I'm going to need very good internships, which i have already aligned up some of them. I also know the sports market is very lucrative but it relies on making your way up the ranks, so yeah, i won't be starting in a 6 figure job ill be making around 50k out of college.
And FYI I'm minoring in buisiness administration which is a field that you can do literally anything with |
I could talk forever on my future plans or why i chose the major i did, but the basic behind it is that I'm following a dream which comes with a paycheck |

"if all else fails i can always become a teacher. here in the top state for education they make a decent salary"
just be a teacher/coach if you love football so much |
sir i considered that but teachers dont make great money, which i intend to make
also my mom is a teacher and hates the stress of the job and told me its not something i should do
i still intend to coach in some capacity. ill find a way to make it work. |
"hates the stress of the job" some kids are a pain in the #### to deal with and you have to deal with hours and hours and hours of lesson plans you don't even get paid for doing, so yeah lol my dad only lasted 3 years at a high school math teacher, 2 at a preppy affluent school and 1 at a gh 3 tt oe school |

i think it also depends on the administration you work for. some administrations (most, probably) put a ton of emphasis on test scores and nothing else (not really their fault, rather the fault of the deluded people who run education, but lets not stray off topic)
either way the pros are the vacations and shorter work days, while the cons are monotony and a relatively low salary ceiling, if you will
as i said, ill find a way to coach. even if its only 1 practice a week (here we do 1 offensive day and 1 defensive day, with a walkthrough and a film day). i can also make an impact as an (illegal if im on the payroll but who cares) offseason coach, teaching skills, techniques, and smarts to players |
"some administrations (most, probably) put a ton of emphasis on test scores and nothing else" exactly. all has to do with rankings. you want your school district to appear ### #### ## ### county, state, and country so you try hard to work around ### system just to bump up test scores and nothing else "(not really their fault, rather ### ##### ## ### deluded people ### run education, but lets not stray off topic)" completely agreed honestly |

There's literally so many factors that go into getting into a college dude. Some colleges look more at community service than anything. Some colleges look at tests, some look at grades. and some look at EVERYTHING |

@JH
What the hell are you talking about? |
