Staying at a friends house in San Diego, and his grandpa is absolutely stacked with military awards and such.
I was wondering if you can help identify what these medals are, as I really know nothing about them.

he was an O3 (Lieutenant in navy)
not sure if those are seal wings or not (he may have been a navy seal)
Ribbons(match with medals, they were awarded the ribbon onto their uniform and the medal for formals. not all ribbons had a medal- most of the first ones can also be found in medal form): Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Air Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commend_____ (censored), Combat Action, Navy Unit Commend_____ (censored), Prisoner of War, National Defense Service, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign
what we can take from this:
he might have been a seal
he was in vietnam
he got injured
he was really cool and badass and was really respected
was an officer (high rank lol)
don't mess with him

forgot to mention that he was also probably held captive (maybe not for long) by the vietnamese during the war
not sure the entire story
im sure he'd be happy to share unless he's really shaken about it- in which case never ask or mention it

^ remove spaces, change the 0 to o, add a . to create a website, and change the ending with the . to what the phonetic letters are. The filter is annoying |
