TF do you mean not constructive? I told him his idea was unoriginal, as in everyone has done it before and if you want to gain any significant following you should do something different because the market is oversaturated with what you are currently doing.
Trying to be nice and ignoring the flaws are actually going to hurt him in the long run. If you tell someone who's doing a bad job that they're doing fine, they aren't going to improve, they aren't going to grow, and most importantly they won't make good content.
