So , This has been going on for a week now , whenever i play any game at all , i get these lag spikes and everyone elses movement stops ,then continues after a few seconds. I have updated my wifi card , uninstalled and reinstalled it , nothing.. Even in games like Gmod , I play it and the server stops every few seconds and then continues , it's just unplayable , i have tried googling but nothing helped , roblox has helped me with technical problems before so i thought i'd ask. Every other device in my house is working fine. Whenever i do a speed test , my ping is usualy 10-20 ms , upload is 15 mbps , downoad is 25-65 mpbs usually. When i go in game it's usually around 20-30 but these days it's 70+ , usually around 120 ms , it's just really unplayable and i always lag out , does anyone have an idea why this is happening? |

virus maybe? try running a malware scan
|
|
|
probably your computer what are your specs |
|
|
I've tried a malware scan , it came out clean , yet im still having the problem. |
|
|
It's not the best PC , But i can assure you it isn't my pc , because i can run games fine , it's just that i lag in the servers. People move around normally and then freeze for a few seconds and then it repeats. I've even updated my drivers. |
|
|
I have done a ping test in-game using !ping , my ping jumps from 9 (average) to 300 or so , even 1500 at times every several seconds , this is really annoying. |
|
|
well it might just be were the server is located?
|
|
|
Unlikely because it's happening with every single server i connect to. |
|
|

Signs of Connection Problems
Roblox has trouble with or fails to load online games, sometimes showing the player an error message (which can include "Could Not Connect" or "ID=17 Failure" messages).
Loading screen on the website takes a long time or never finishes to load.
Player can visit games in the Build or Edit modes, but not in Play mode.
Games randomly or consistently tell you that they have shut down.
Why It Can Happen
Firewall:
This is very frequently a firewall problem, though it can be (in very few cases) the result of a low-bandwidth connection or a inconsistent wireless connection.
Slow Internet Connection / Big Game:
If you are playing on the internet on really slow service, and the game is big, it can take a good bit of time to actually download the map. Give it a little while. Roblox may run on Dial-Up connections, however, your experience will not be optimal.
Empty Game / Place:
If the map seems to be running, but is unusually devoid of stuff, then the map did in fact load. The game's creator probably just didn't build anything in it, so it is empty. You can tell when a map is done loading once your avatar appears.
Bad Game / Place:
The game could be bad. There could be a bad script in it, or it has too many objects, which is preventing the game from running properly. Inform the creator of the problem, as only he/she will be able to repair it.
What to Do
Please try each step below, one at a time, in order. If one solution doesn't work, move on to the next!
1.) Make Sure You’re Using a Supported Browser
Make sure you are using the most updated version of your browser to Play Roblox. For Roblox Studio, you will also need to have the most updated version of Internet Explorer. If you are having issues playing with your current browser, please try playing on a different browser, such as Firefox or Chrome.
2.) Reset Your Internet Options (Windows Only)
Many times, a simple reset of your Internet Options is all you need. Please keep in mind that these steps will need to use Internet Explorer, but will fix many problems even for players that use other browsers such as Chrome or Firefox. Please try the following :
Open Internet Explorer (this browser specifically)
Open the gear icon > Internet options
Open the Advanced tab
Click the reset button
Close Internet Explorer
Try playing again
3.) Check Your Browser’s Security Settings
You will need to ensure that the security settings on your browser allow for Roblox. If these settings are set too high, it can cause a variety of problems ranging from what is listed at the top of this article to website issues such as buttons/links not responding. For assistance with this, please click here.
4.) Check Wireless Connection
You can rule out the wireless connection by switching to a wired connection if possible. If it’s not the connection, or if you can't try a wired connection, then check your firewall's settings, which we will discuss below.
5.) Remove/Disable any Ad-blocker Browser Add-Ons
Browser Add-Ons/Extensions can cause a number of issues, and in particular, Ad-blockers can stop a game from fully loading.
6.) Make Sure the Appropriate Ports are Open
The ports that Roblox uses is dependent on the Operating System used. The port range is currently UDP 4915#####553######keeping all these ports open should allow Roblox to connect to your router properly.
7.) Configure Your Firewall and/or Router
A lot of antivirus or internet security software tries to control which programs can access the internet. Often, these programs err on the side of caution and by default no program is allowed access.
8.) Reinstall Roblox
As an extra measure, please reinstall Roblox.
If you join a game and it appears to stutter or “lag” or players are appearing to warp around the game, it could be signs of a slow game or slow connection.
Graphics Level
First start by checking the Roblox graphics level. When in a game, hit Escape to bring up the menu. From there, you can check the graphics level of Roblox and set it to a lower level. If the Graphics Mode is currently set to 'Automatic', change it to 'Manual' and then you will be able to make any necessary adjustments. Lower graphics levels will reduce some of the image/visual quality but it also means that your computer works less to run Roblox and may result in a better game play experience until you can upgrade your hardware or have a better connection.
If you cannot load a place to change the settings, you can also set this option in Roblox Studio.
Open Studio and go to Tools > Settings (SystemMenu UI) or File > Settings (RibbonBar UI)
Click on Rendering in the left column of the window that pops up
Cl########f you're prompted
You can set your graphics level manually on the QualityLevel setting.
Check Your Computer's Resources
If lowering the quality didn't work, check to make sure your system resources are not being used by other high-power programs. Close out of any unnecessary programs to make sure they aren't taking up system resources that Roblox may need to run properly. It is recommended that when you run Roblox, for the most optimal experience, that you close all other programs. |
