they really didnt have much other choices here with the upcoming expansion draft. bishop's gonna be a UFA so he can't be exposed, so that leaves either (im not sure which) vasilevskiy or gudlevskis exposed. so for the lightning, that means they leave either one exposed (and likely to be selected), give up a significant draft pick or two to the golden knights so they don't take their exposed goalie, or trade bishop off and get a goalie they can expose + little to no additional assets in return.

but tbh the lightning shouldve made a move sooner (as in during the offseason last year), likely couldve gotten a more significant return if they did.
