Hello citizens of Norfolk, I, DannyboyLaw, Would like to announce my bid for City Councilman. I'm just going to tell ya right now, I'm not going to write a nine paragraph essay about how I want to implement ideas that already exist, or to toot my own horn. This is because, shockingly, very few people want to read those! In this I will line out my plans, ideas, goals, and a tiny bit about my qualifications.
To sum up my time in Norfolk, I've served as the City Attorney, Mayor (oh boy did that fail never doing that again lol), Municipal Judge, NCPD Sergeant, NCPD:SWAT Tactics Officer, NCDOC Senior Correctional Officer, and a DOT Maintenance Worker.
Now, my plans for the term. I would like to first off fix some inconsistencys in the City Charter, nothing much just record keeping tasks. For example, formally recognizing DoC as a minor department. And there are a few things semi-major I'd like to change. For example, The Mayor's pardon power. This needs to go. Yes, it can be a good way to prevent corruption, but at the cost of causing it. The pardon power is simply a way of passing right over a lawful trial, and it's ridiculous. I would of course obey the wishes of the people however if they want to keep it. I'd also like to define laws more clearly.
Finally, for my over-all goals. I'd first off like to have a google form or something of the type to let civilians give me bills they want in directly to me. I'd also like to co-operate with the executive branch in helping the Mayor with a lot of his new ideas. Finally, I'd like to help out the departments where I can, ensuring good quality emergency services.
