It seems like a very vast majority of foreign non English speaking countries speak English perfectly. Some even seem like they dont have accents. I assume they start learning English if they are destined to the NHL?

A lot of the second generation players spent a part of their life growing up in North America (Kasperi Kapanen and William Nylander to name two) Kapanen sounds like he was literally born and raised in America. He was born in Finland but he did spend most of his childhood in America which likely explains his lack of a European accent. He would have returned to Finland when he was 12 or 13.

Also worth noting that Finnish and Swedish people in general usually speak very good English by the time they're an adult unless they live in very small rural towns. Switzerland is more or less the same and they're basically born to become bilingual over there anyway.
