This new icon system is a problem. Why? Let me explain.
1. The problem.
2. Why it should be removed.
3. What can we do?
4. Conclusion
1. The problem
First off, this new icon system changes all the thumbnails on our games, completely making it impossible to find out how good a game is without playing it. Think, some of us, including me, put the camera in an area where the nicest images of our games that were possible, in order to get more people in our games. And then we would change that image every so often to keep people interested.
2. Why it should be removed
Okay, why change it? This new icon system also makes our games look unprofessional, it makes people think the game is bad just because they can't see what the game is like. This icon system also forces us to do more work for our game just to make it nice, it wasn't like that back then, that was optional. Finally, what is the point of icons if they just have a Roblox logo and a background of another game, and not theirs? I could go on and on, but those are the main reasons why it needs to be removed. If we redo the icon system, many new players can have people be able to see their games and then play it.
3. What can we do?
What can we do to fix this problem? No, we don't have to go back to the old system, but rather redo it a bit! Here is my idea to the icon system. When you are in Studio, there should be a button when publishing a new place, it triggers a system that allows you to go to an area on your place, then hit a button to set that area as an icon. If the user chooses not to save an icon, then it will use the current Roblox icons, this can be useful for people trying to make their games secret.
4. Conclusion
In conclusion, the new icon system creates problems for people trying to get people to see images of their game, and makes it look unprofessional. This idea I have could help new developers show off their games. To solve this icon problem, make a button when publishing a place on Studio for the user to fly around to a nice area of the map and take a picture.
I hope you at least consider this idea!
