Have you heard about the severe storms coming Friday? Pretty much everyone from Kansas City and Wichita down 35 to Austin/San Antonio will be affected, looks like a classic set up with destructive tornadoes, large hail, and strong winds It's not your average severe system, it looks like the Storm Prediction Center had a moderate range of confidence on it since the Day 7 outlook

Should be an eventful day, then. Always "exciting" to watch the first proper severe storm outbreak. Hopefully there aren't any significant tornadoes. Observing the small ones is fun enough.

I hope there aren't any significant tornadoes that affect populated areas, it's always cool to see one relatively brief EF4 or EF5 over farmland captured on video by storm spotters because it looks cool on video, but this is the kind of event we could see a moderate to high risk outlook for Dallas-Fort Worth and Tulsa, and enhanced to moderate risk outlook for Oklahoma City, A u s t i n, W a c o, Wichita, and Kansas City.

I don't know if you ever saw it, but last year sometime in Shawnee, Oklahoma there was this massive, low-hanging wall cloud that had several lowerings. It produced several small tornadoes - one of the coolest things I've ever watched on live TV.

Don't think I've seen it, but that sounds freakin' awesome Also, the severe weather outlook has trimmed OKC and Austin out for being too far west (maybe if the dryline stays west enough, OKC and Austin could go back into the outlook for a tornado threat with the initial supercells) and trimmed Kansas City out for being too far north Looks like it's going to be a derecho-type wind system and Little Rock/Shreveport could see the threats on Fri night
