only data which was through X site's services was used to "tailor advertising to you"
which was also opt out, at the very least by NOT using those services. if you dont want to be filmed, dont go to a store with security cameras. might be inconvenient, but you retain your right and ability to not be filmed.
there is no longer an "opt out" and your ISP has access to 100% of your browsing data, which can be sold to anyone willing to pay. you've lost your right to privacy on the internet. |

opt out wasnt legally required, it was just made by google. and that's only for google ads, they still collect and sell your info just like ## ###### bing and yahoo do too and ofc there's gonna be ISPs created which will pledge not to collect data anyways, ones who do will receive backlash Lastly, it's super easy to avoid and legal vpn |

you obviously didnt read my response very well if you missed the part where i said that you could "opt out" by not using the service entirely. whatever laws govern their data collection don't really matter to you if you're not using their services.
